Job summary

HANNON Transport Ltd. in Lusk, Ireland, is seeking a hands-on HGV Mechanic to inspect, maintain, and repair fleet vehicles. You will work Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm, ensuring safety, compliance and reliability of the fleet through thorough diagnostics and timely servicing.

The role requires NVQ/City & Guilds in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and proven HGV/LGV experience, with a focus on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. RSA compliance and accurate record-keeping are essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ/City & Guilds or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
• Proven experience as an HGV/LGV mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to diagnose faults using diagnostic tools and software.
• Knowledge of transport compliance and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and repairs on HGV vehicles.
• Maintain engines, brakes, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Perform scheduled maintenance in line with manufacturer and company standards.
• Identify and rectify faults efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime.
• Ensure all work complies with RSA regulations, road safety standards, and company policies.
• Complete safety and compliance checks on vehicles.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, MOTs, and service logs.
• Assist with vehicle recovery, towing, and roadside repairs if required.
• Work collaboratively with other workshop staff and fleet managers.
• Maintain workshop equipment, tools, and a clean, safe working environment.
• Report vehicle defects, incidents, or recurring faults to Maintenance Manager.
• Complete all service sheets, repair records, and diagnostic reports accurately.
• Suggest process improvements for fleet reliability, efficiency, and safety.
• Stay updated with HGV maintenance practices and emerging technology.
