Job summary

Paddy Dore Commercials in Limerick is seeking an HGV Mechanic to service and repair heavy vehicles, ensuring roadworthiness and safety. You will inspect, diagnose, and repair diesel engines, braking and electrical systems, and prepare vehicles for CVRT testing. The role offers a 39-hour week and a focus on high-quality workmanship.

Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic is essential. Work is performed on-site at Dock Road, Limerick, with adherence to workshop standards and health and safety

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or heavy vehicle mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, braking, suspension and steering for heavy vehicles.
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Experience in servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs on commercial vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, servicing, inspection, and repair of HGVs and trailers to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, diesel engine, and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
• Remove, repair, replace, and reassemble defective vehicle components and systems.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing per manufacturer standards.
• Prepare vehicles and trailers for CVRT testing and carry out repairs to ensure roadworthiness.
• Test vehicles following maintenance to verify performance, safety, and reliability.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment and adhere to health and safety procedures.
