Job summary

McElligott Coaches is recruiting an experienced HGV mechanic to join our maintenance team.

The successful candidate will diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical faults on a fleet of commercial trucks, perform routine servicing and preventive maintenance, and prepare vehicles for annual DOE roadworthiness tests. A recognised trade certificate and at least three years of HGV experience are required, with good English skills.

Qualifications

• Recognised trade certificate or relevant mechanical qualification.
• Minimum three years’ experience working on heavy goods vehicles.
• Good written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, maintain and repair mechanical and electrical faults on a fleet of commercial trucks.

Job Description

Patrick McElligott & Sons Limited t/a McElligott Coaches is currently recruiting experienced HGV Mechanics to join our maintenance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical faults on a fleet of commercial trucks.

The role includes carrying out routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and necessary repairs, as well as preparing vehicles for annual DOE roadworthiness tests.

The ideal candidate must hold a recognised trade certificate or relevant mechanical qualification and have a minimum of three years’ experience working on heavy goods vehicles.

A good level of written and spoken English is required for this role.

Candidates must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team, maintain accurate records of all work completed, and adhere strictly to company health and safety policies and procedures at all times.
