Job summary

Transway Trailer Limited in Clondalkin, Dublin 22, Ireland, is seeking a skilled HGV Mechanic to join our workshop team. We specialize in trailers (not trucks) and focus on maintaining and repairing a range of trailer systems.

The role is full-time, on-site, 40 hours per week, with a Monday–Saturday rota. You will inspect, service and repair air braking, axles, brakes, suspension and electrical systems, adhering to manufacturer guidance and delivering high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Experience as a mechanic or fitter.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Ability to complete delegated work to a high standard.
• Computer or mobile literacy is an advantage.
• Experience that will strengthen an application.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting, servicing and repairing HGV trailers to a high maintenance standard and in line with manufacturer recommendations, including air braking systems, axles, brake systems, suspension systems and electrical systems.
• Maintenance of HGV trailer axles, suspension, brake systems and bodies.
• Fitting components to HGV trailer axles and bodies.
• Retrofitting components to HGV trailers, such as automated rollover covers, doors, lights, curtains and other body components.
• Welding and basic fabrication, where applicable.
• Basic electronics and wiring, where applicable.
• Participating in all scheduled training as required by the company.
• Contributing to the maintenance and upkeep of our facility, vehicles and equipment.
• Ensuring all work is carried out to the highest possible standard and contributing to a high level of customer experience.
• Maintaining a good level of housekeeping.

About the role

Transway Trailer Ltd. is recruiting a HGV Mechanic to join our workshop team in Clondalkin, Co. Dublin. We work exclusively on HGV articulated trailers (semi trailers). We do not work on trucks or vans, and it is important that candidates understand that before applying. Experience on trucks is still useful, as many of the parts and mechanisms are similar to those found on trailers.

Key responsibilities

Essential competencies

Experience working on the following trailer types:

• Flat bed trailers
• Curtain side trailers
• Refrigerated trailers
• Tipper trailers
• Walking floor and waste trailers
• 3 axle trailers

Experience with the following brands and components:

• Schmitz Cargobull, Krone, Legras, SDC and Fruehauf trailers
• BPW, SAF and JOST axles and components
• Aspock lighting systems

• Sector: transportation and storage
