Job summary

Saint John of God Hospital in Ireland seeks a Data Protection Officer (Grade VII Clerical) for a permanent, full-time on-site role. You will lead GDPR compliance, advise management, and safeguard patient and staff privacy.

The post requires extensive experience in data protection, DPIAs, data subject requests and breach investigations, with strong vendor and regulator liaison skills. You will report to senior management and collaborate across hospital services.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 8+ degree in a relevant field.
• Desirable professional data protection/privacy qualification.
• 35+ years experience in data protection or compliance, ideally in healthcare/public sector.
• Experience handling DPIAs, subject access requests and breach investigations.
• Experience managing external requests from Gardaí, Solicitors, Regulators.

Responsibilities

• Advise management on GDPR compliance and data protection requirements.
• Monitor compliance across the organisation.
• Act as point of contact for the Data Protection Commission and data subjects.
