Job summary

Medforce in Kildare is seeking a compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team, delivering person-centred care and supporting nursing staff in a busy clinical setting.

This agency role aligns with the HSE pay scale for August 2025. Flexibility to work day, night and weekend shifts, and a QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support are required or desirable.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 5 qualification in Healthcare Support (or equivalent recognised healthcare qualification).
• Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a hospital, nursing home, or similar healthcare environment would be desirable.
• Flexibility to work day, night, and weekend shifts as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with personal care needs including washing, dressing, mobility, eating, and toileting.
• Support nursing staff in monitoring patients’ condition — including temperature, pulse, respiration, and fluid intake/output.
• Maintain patient dignity, comfort, and privacy at all times.
• Support the safe moving and handling of patients using appropriate equipment and techniques.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment for patients.
• Observe and report any changes in patients’ conditions to the nurse in charge.
• Help with serving meals and assisting patients who require help with feeding.
• Record information accurately in patient charts and reports.
• Participate in infection prevention and control practices.
• Work collaboratively with the wider healthcare team to promote patient wellbeing and recovery.
