Job summary

Craddock House Nursing Home in Naas, Co. Kildare, part of the Virtue Integrated Elder Care Group, is seeking a full-time Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support residents with daily living tasks and to promote their dignity and independence.

You will work under the supervision of qualified nurses, follow care plans, monitor residents’ wellbeing, and contribute to a warm, safe, and respectful home environment.

Qualifications

  • QQI Level 5 in healthcare or equivalent.
  • 2+ years' experience in elder care or related setting.
  • Nursing/Allied Health/Healthcare degree acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including hygiene, mobility and meals.
  • Follow care plans and alert nurses to changes in residents' health.
  • Maintain privacy and dignity of residents and promote independence.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and relatives.
  • Ensure a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.

Healthcare Assistant (HCA) – Craddock House Nursing Home, Craddockstown Road, Naas, Kildare
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in delivering a high standard of holistic care to residents, always promoting their equality and dignity.
  • Carry out assigned and delegated tasks involving direct care and all activities of daily living which may include e.g. washing, toileting, dressing, undressing, dining, social activities, conversation, communication support and all other aspects of daily living.
  • Respect the privacy and dignity of all residents and promote their independence.
  • Provide particular attention and assist residents who have limited mobility.
  • Understand, be knowledgeable on and observe care plans and alert nurses immediately regarding any changes in the physical and mental state of the residents.
  • Report immediately any incident or potential incident which may compromise the health and safety of residents or visitors.
  • Maintaining a safe environment for the residents, staff and visitors of the home.
  • Communicate effectively with all residents and their relatives/representatives.
  • Contribute to and enhance the quality of resident activities and events.
Essential Criteria's
  • QQI Level 5 in healthcare (or equivalent)
  • 2+ years' experience in elder care
  • OR Nursing/Allied Health/Healthcare related Degree
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Strong supervisory and motivational skills
