Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Health & Safety Officer to support and drive our safety culture across our waste management and recycling operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation, delivering training, conducting audits, and promoting best practice across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and monitor the company’s Health & Safety Management System
- Ensure compliance with Irish health & safety legislation and environmental standards
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses and issue detailed reports
- Develop and review RAMS, SOPs, safety statements, and policies
- Deliver Health & Safety training and toolbox talks to staff
- Maintain training records and compliance documentation
- Liaise with site managers, employees, and external stakeholders
- Support continuous improvement in safety performance across all locations
- Monitor contractor safety compliance
- Prepare reports and safety KPIs for management

The Person
- Minimum Level 7 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety
- 2–3 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Officer or H&S training role
- Experience within waste management, recycling, construction, manufacturing, or a similar high-risk environment (preferred)
- Full clean driving licence and access to own vehicle
- Willingness to travel regularly across the East Coast
- English as a first language (or fully professionally fluent)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Publisher
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
Desirable / Advantageous
- Recognised H&S Instructor / Training certifications
- Manual Handling / Fire Warden / Abrasive Wheels / Working at Height instructor status (or similar)
- Experience delivering accredited safety training
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 systems
- Strong attention to detail
- Proactive and solution-focused
- Confident delivering training to groups
- Excellent report writing and documentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and influencing abilities
