Health & Safety Lead, Dairy Processing

Job summary

Tirlán's Ballyragget site in Ireland is seeking a proactive Health & Safety Lead to drive the site’s safety programs and compliance within Europe’s largest integrated dairy processing site.

Reporting to the Site Health & Safety Manager, you will lead HSMS implementation, risk assessments, training and incident investigations, collaborating with operations, contractors and regulators to foster a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Third-level qualification in H&S, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
• 3-5 years' experience in a H&S role within food, dairy, manufacturing or similarly regulated environment.
• NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent qualification (completed or in progress).
• Experience with ISO 45001 management systems advantageous.
• Familiarity with ATEX, COMAH and radiation safety regulations beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the HSMS including ISO 45001.
• Lead risk assessments and development of safe systems of work.
• Coordinate contractor management, permit-to-work, and inductions.
• Conduct inspections, audits and compliance reviews; implement corrective actions.
• Lead investigations into accidents and near-misses; drive corrective actions.
• Provide day-to-day health and safety guidance to operations.
• Develop and deliver safety training and engagement initiatives.
• Participate in HAZOP, ATEX, process safety reviews.
• Maintain health and safety records in line with regs.
• Act as Radiation Protection Officer or Deputy.
• Support emergency preparedness and drills.
• Build relationships to foster a proactive safety culture.
• Liaise with contractors, auditors and regulators.
• Support Business Excellence and capital projects.
• Provide safety input to engineering and maintenance.
• Act as deputy to Site H&S Manager when required.
