Job summary

Roadstone invites applications for its 2027 Health and Safety Graduate Programme, starting September 2027. Based across main quarry locations, you will rotate through areas to gain broad exposure while developing technical, interpersonal, commercial and management skills.

You will participate in a structured two-year development programme with mentorship from senior leaders and a Professional Diploma in Leadership and Competence with the Ibec Academy, accredited by TU Dublin.

Qualifications

• Third level qualification in Health and Safety or equivalent completed within the last 3 years.
• Excellent verbal and written communication in English.
• Team player with a positive attitude and proactive mindset.
• Clean driving licence required; company vehicle provided.

Responsibilities

• Promote and develop H&S regulations across allocated Roadstone locations.
• Support Health and Safety Officers and learn from them.
• Develop accident prevention and reduction plans.
• Organise inspections and investigations.
• Drive and communicate safety initiative programmes.
• Train employees and contractors on safety practices.
• Provide accurate health and safety guidance.
• Stay updated on H&S legislation and CRH requirements.
• Maintain and advance health and safety management systems.

Roadstone Graduate Programme 2027

Reporting to: Health and Safety Manager

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Health and Safety Graduate to join our team. The successful candidate will be based in one of our main Roadstone Quarry locations and will get exposure over a number of different locations in order to gain an understanding of our business.

Graduates will take part in our two-year graduate development programme, which will guide you through a semi-structured programme across various areas in our business in order to develop technical, interpersonal, commercial and management skills.

Roadstone’s 2027 Graduate Programme will commence the beginning of September 2027.

Key Areas Of Responsibility

• Drive awareness & improvement of all H&S regulations and requirements to their allocated company locations, employees and contractors.
• Provide support and learn from the Health and Safety Officers.
• Develop accident prevention and reduction plans and programmes.
• Organise and carry out inspections and investigations.
• Involved in driving and communication of safety initiative programmes.
• Involved in organising and training employees and contractors.
• Provide accurate health and safety advice and guidance.
• Remaining up to date with any changes to H&S legislation, CRH requirements etc
• Involvement in maintaining and progressing our health and safety management systems.
• Ability to communicate information effectively to both employees and contractors.

Candidates Should Ideally Possess

• A relevant third level Qualification in Health and Safety or similar qualification which must be within 3 years of completion.
• Team player with a positive attitude.
• A clean driving licence will be required, as a company vehicle is supplied.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, organised, results driven and self-motivated.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• An ability to operate to strict timelines/deadlines in order to produce results.
• Strong computer literacy skills.
