Job summary

Red Island Recruitment is assisting a client in Ireland to hire a hands-on Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor who champions safe working practices, strengthens risk management and ensures full compliance with HSE standards on site.

You will work with management and operational teams to drive a proactive safety culture, lead RA and SWOP processes, conduct audits and KPI reporting, and manage PPE and safety communications. 3–5 years HSE experience with IOSH is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in a professional HSE role.
• Management systems knowledge within formal frameworks.
• IOSH membership or equivalent accreditation.
• Strong communication, organised and able to drive projects within timelines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and ACOP.
• Lead the RA and SWOP processes with regular review by Supervisors and Managers.
• Oversee near-miss and accident reporting and investigations with proper recording.
• Develop, update and monitor the site safety plan and KPI data.
• Deliver Health & Safety inductions and ensure training requirements are met.
• Manage PPE stocks and site safety communications.

Job description

My client is seeking to hire a hands‑on Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor to champion safe working practices, strengthen risk management, and ensure full compliance with HSE standards across the site. You will work closely with management and operational teams to drive a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

Core Safety & Compliance

• Maintain a safe workplace and ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, best practice and ACOP.
• Ensure full adherence to Environmental legislation and prevent activities that could negatively impact the environment.
• Stay up to date with relevant HSE legislation and keep the Site MD informed.
• Lead the RA and SWOP process, ensuring regular review by Supervisors and Managers.
• Oversee near‑miss and accident reporting, ensuring full investigation and proper recording.
• Ensure corrective actions are completed within agreed timelines.
• Identify underlying risks and engage effectively across all site levels.

Training, Engagement & Culture

• Deliver Health & Safety inductions for employees, contractors and visitors.
• Ensure all H&S training requirements are met.
• Facilitate tri‑monthly safety committee meetings and distribute minutes.
• Keep all HSE information boards updated and engaging.
• Manage the IST register and ensure scheduled tours are completed.

Audit, Reporting & Planning

• Conduct internal audits to verify compliance and drive continuous improvement.
• Collect, collate and report weekly and monthly Divisional HSE KPI data.
• Develop, update and monitor the site safety plan.
• Manage PPE stocks and supplies to support staff protection and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ experience in a professional HSE role.
• Management systems knowledge and experience working within formal frameworks.
• IOSH membership or equivalent accreditation.
• Strong communication skills, able to convey complex matters confidently at all levels.
• Highly organised, self‑disciplined, and able to deliver projects within agreed timelines.
• Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
