Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment seeks an experienced Health & Safety Advisor for a permanent role in Wexford. You will oversee health and safety across construction sites, reviewing risk assessments, inductions, and records, while driving compliance with HSQE standards.

You will investigate incidents, identify training needs, and ensure PPE usage, reporting to the Health and Safety Manager. This role offers exposure to diverse projects and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

• A relevant third-level qualification in Health and Safety.
• 3-5 years' experience in a similar Health and Safety Advisor role.
• Experience with HSQE standards and management systems.
• Proven ability to conduct inspections and prepare risk assessments.

Responsibilities

• Review and update risk assessments, safe procedures and safety statements.
• Deliver induction training for employees and subcontractors with records.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses and implement corrective actions.
• Identify training needs and ensure on-time delivery of mandatory training.
• Ensure correct use of PPE by employees.
• Review subcontractors' safety statements and compliance.
• Attend health and safety meetings and enforce policies.
• Provide accident information for insurance purposes.

About Your New Job

Reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager, you will help ensure that health and safety standards are maintained across construction activities and project sites.

• Regularly review and update company risk assessments, safe operating procedures and safety statements.
• Deliver safety induction training for new employees and subcontractors, while maintaining accurate documentary records.
• Investigate, record and report accidents, incidents and near-misses, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
• Identify ongoing and new safety training requirements, ensuring mandatory training is reviewed and delivered on time.
• Ensure all relevant employees have access to and correctly use the required personal protective equipment.
• Review subcontractors' safety statements and safety compliance.
• Attend regular health and safety meetings and enforce Health and Safety Department policies.
• Provide relevant accident information for insurance purposes.

What Skills You Need

• A relevant third-level qualification in Health and Safety.
• 3-5 years' experience in a similar Health and Safety Advisor position.
• Experience working with relevant HSQE standards and management systems.
• Proven ability to complete safety inspections and prepare detailed risk assessments.
• Strong knowledge of construction health and safety practices.
• Excellent communication, organisational and investigative skills.
