Blackrock Health Group in Galway is seeking a Healthcare Assistant for the Cath Lab on a permanent, full-time basis (39 hours per week). The role involves supporting the nursing team, assisting with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe and clean ward, and preparing beds and equipment for patient care.

Responsabilités

• Work under the supervision of the CNM/Staff Nurse.
• Assist in delivering practical nursing care and activities of daily living.
• Maintain a clean, safe ward environment and assist with bed preparation and equipment handling.
• Escort patients within the unit and assist with mobility as required.
• Participate in waste disposal according to hospital policy and report needs to housekeeping.

A vacancy has arisen within the Cath Lab for the position of Healthcare Assistant.

This role is a on a permanent, full time basis working 39 hours per week.

The Role

• Work under the supervision of the CNM/ Staff Nurse
• Work on a rotational basis and perform duties under the supervision of a staff nurse.
• Deliver practical nursing care assistance
• Collaborate with the nursing staff in helping patients with the activities of daily living.
• Work with all unit staff creating an efficient, safe friendly environment for care delivery.
• Assist in keeping all unit areas clean and tidy.
• Move or assist in moving equipment and furniture as necessary.
• Cleaning and making up unoccupied beds when necessary.
• Returning trays and equipment to proper storage areas.
• Attending to the hygiene of equipment such as I.V. stands, infusion pumps, hoists, bed cages, patient chairs, commodes and other ward equipment.
• Attend to spillages by reporting same to housekeeping as quickly as possible in order to prevent accidents.
• Assist in the disposal of clinical waste according to hospital policy.
• Assist mobile but disorientated patients to navigate safely around the unit.
• Assist feeble visitors to the unit to prevent them falling or injuring themselves.
• Escort patients within or outside the hospital when necessary.
• Remain with patients who require custodial supervision.
• Prepare bed areas for the reception of new patients.
• Assist with the safe keeping of patient’s personal property (collaborate with nursing staff in dealing with money, valuables and medications) and document as per hospital policy.
• Delivering specimens to the laboratory when necessary.
• Checking unit stock and listing those which need re-ordering.
• Maintaining orderly storage of supplies.
• Reporting requests from patients and their families to the nursing staff.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Unit Manager.

The Candidate

• QQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support
• Previous experience in a similar role – desirable
• Excellent communication skills, ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Flexibility in work practices
