Waterford Nursing Home, part of Mowlam Healthcare, is recruiting for a full-time Health Care Assistant in Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland. You will work as part of a team delivering resident-focused care under the Named Nurse concept, promoting dignity and wellbeing.

The role involves supporting nursing staff, encouraging mobility, helping with daily activities and participating in social events. Excellent communication and reliability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support nursing staff in delivering high quality, person-centred care.
• Get to know residents’ interests and needs; provide attention and companionship.

• Assist residents with personal appearance and hygiene while maintaining dignity.
• Communicate with nurses about residents' condition and daily life.
• Assist residents to eat/drink and reach physical comfort.
• Participate in and help organize social activities.
• Maintain high communication with residents’ families and staff.
• Assist in maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the home.
• Contribute to Health and Safety within the home.
• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Nurse in Charge.

We are now recruiting for a full time Healthcare Assistant to join Waterford Nursing Home.

Purpose of the role

The Health Care Assistant works as a member of a team delivering care to the residents via the Named Nurse concept. As such a team member, the Care Assistant contributes to the fulfillment of Mowlam Healthcare’s philosophy of care.

What does the role entail?

• Supporting the nursing staff and team in delivering high quality person-centred care to meet all care needs of residents
• Getting to know residents’ interests and needs, providing attention, support and companionship
• Promoting the mobility of residents, supervising and assisting as necessary to ensure optimum mobility is maintained and improved where possible
• Enabling and assisting residents to maintain their personal appearance /hygiene needs whilealways maintaining their dignity
• Communicating with nurses regarding resident's condition or any aspect of resident's daily life
• Enabling and assisting residents to eat/drink and achieve physical comfort
• Participating, organising and carrying out social activities
• Sustaining high level of communication between resident’s family and staff developing good relationships
• Assisting in the upkeep of high standards of cleanliness in the home
• Contributing to the maintenance of Health and Safety in the home
• Any other duties deemed necessary by Nurse in Charge and management.
