Job summary

Orchard Care Group in Ireland is recruiting Health Care Assistants on a full-time and part-time basis. The role involves delivering direct care, supporting daily activities, and contributing to residents’ health and wellbeing across multiple locations in Ireland.

Candidates should have QQI Level 5 or equivalent, 2–3 years of relevant experience, and a full manual driving license. A valid employment permit is required for non-EEA nationals. Competitive salary and benefits apply.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2/3 years experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities or supporting children and young people who are unable to live with their own families.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of a high standard of care.
  • Assist with activities and care as assigned by the Manager and in the Integrated Care Plan.
  • Respect individuals and family needs and provide person-centred support.
  • Maintain files in readiness for inspections at any time.
  • Act as advocate for the child/adult and family, providing information and support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on Integrated Care Plan safety and execution.
  • Report changes in condition/behaviour to the Manager.
  • Develop social interaction for individuals in group or one-to-one settings.
  • Field requests and queries from service users, families and visitors to the Manager.
  • Be aware of equipment usage, safety precautions and handling.
  • Report incidents and keep records via incident/complaint forms.
  • Welcome visitors and family members to the unit.
  • Participate in team meetings and communications.
  • Provide personal care to service users as required.
  • Uphold GDPR confidentiality at all times.
  • Be flexible to work shifts as needed.
  • Undertake any other work to meet service requirements.

Start date of Advert: 1st of August End Date of Advert: 31th of August Salary: €40,216 up to €44,293 The Orchard Care Group is a wholly Irish owned company dedicated to providing the best possible care, supports and outcomes for children, young people, and adults in Ireland across a range of settings and locations, in fostering, disability and mainstream residential services. The Group brings together three leading brands in Irish social care Orchard Residential, Orchard Community Care and Orchard Fostering. As we continue to expand to provide additional services to meet the needs of those we care for, we currently have a number of opportunities within our Orchard Community Care & Orchard Residential Care divisions, across Ireland for full time and part time Health Care Assistants, vacancies available in the following counties: Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway, Longford, Limerick, Kerry, Cork, Meath, Cavan, Waterford, Carlow, Laois, Westmeath. Working on a shift rota, you will engage in daily activities and routines of the service, providing dedicated direct support to the people we care for as well as contributing to their development, health, and wellbeing. Working hours will be 48 hours per week as part of the rolling roster in place Rosters include 12&24 hour shifts Minimum Gross Annual Salary €40216 (minimum 2/3 years relevant work experience required) Purpose of the role: The Health Care Assistant is expected to engage in daily activities and routines of the service that they are working in, inclusive of direct support to service users, administration work and daily household tasks required of them. The Health Care Assistant is required to work as part of a dedicated and innovative team within Residential Services providing a service to the people we support in line with national regulations & standards.

Main Responsibilities
  1. 1.Ensure delivery of a high standard of care
  2. 2.Assist with the child/adults activities and care as assigned by the Manager and as indicated in the persons Integrated Care Plan.
  3. 3.Encourage recognition of the child/adult as an individual ensuring that they and their familys needs and comforts are given priority.
  4. 4.Ensure that all files are in line and ready for an Inspection at any given time.
  5. 5.To act as an advocate for the child/adult and family ensuring the provision of appropriate information and support
  6. 6.To ensure that colleagues assist in all aspects of the childs/adults Integrated Care Plan in a safe and observant manner.
  7. 7.Report changes noted in the child/adults condition/behaviour to the Manager.
  8. 8.Develop social interaction for children/adults individually and in a group setting.
  9. 9.Report requests, queries from children/adults/parents/visitors to the Manager.
  10. 10.To be aware of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment.
  11. 11.Report all incidents and complaints involving self, children/adults or visitors to Manager and ensure incident/complaint form is completed.
  12. 12.Receive all visitors and family members to the unit with courtesy.
  13. 13.To participate in all communication processes - team meetings/staff forums/emails.
  14. 14. Ensure personal care is provided to service users who require it.
  15. 15. In line with GDPR, maintain and uphold the organisations and the people we support - confidentiality at all times.
  16. 16. Flexible and willing to work shifts to meet the needs of the service.
  17. 17. Undertake any other work which may arise within the scope of a Health Care Assistant in order to meet the requirements of the service.
Essential Requirement

Relevant QQI Level 5 or equivalent

  1. 1. Minimum of 2/3 years experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities or supporting children and young people who are unable to live with their own families.
  2. 2. Knowledge of adults/children with complex needs.
  3. 3. Full manual drivers license is mandatory (eligibility to drive in Ireland)
  4. 4. In Order to work in Ireland a non -EEA National, unless they are exempted, must hold a valid employment permit.
