Job summary

Orchard Community Care is inviting applicants for Health Care Assistant roles across Ireland, including Galway, Kerry, Laois, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, Waterford, Cork, Carlow and Wexford. Roles involve direct care, daily activities, and teamwork within residential services.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities.
• QQI Level 5 or equivalent (or Healthcare/Social Care).
• Fluent English (C2).
• Full manual driving licence is mandatory (eligibility to drive in Ireland).

Working on a shift rota, you will engage in daily activities and routines of the service, providing dedicated direct support to the people we care for as well as contributing to their development, health and wellbeing. The Health Care Assistant is required to work as part of a dedicated and innovative team within Residential Service providing a service to the people we support in line with national regulations and standards.

Duties

• Ensure delivery of a high standard of care
• Encourage recognition of the child/adult as an individual ensuring that they and their family’s needs and comforts are given priority
• To ensure that colleagues assist in all aspects of the child/adult’s integrated care plan in a safe and observant manner
• Report requests, queries from children/adults/parents/visitors to the Manager.
• To be aware of the uses, safety precautions and handling of equipment.

Essential Requirements

• Relevant QQI Level 5 or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar environment supporting adults or children with intellectual and physical disabilities.
• Knowledge of adults/ children with complex needs
• Full manual drivers’ licence is mandatory (eligibility to drive in Ireland)
