Health & Safety Manager | Framespace Solutions | Longford
Framespace Solutions is at the forefront of Ireland’s offsite construction revolution. We design and manufacture high-performance modular buildings that are built faster, smarter, and to a higher standard than traditional construction.
Our production facility in Longford is where precision engineering meets real-world delivery. As we scale production volumes, the safety and wellbeing of our people is central to everything we do.
If you’re based in the Midlands and looking for a senior H&S role closer to home, without the commute, this one is worth a look.
The Role
We’re looking for a Health & Safety Manager to provide dedicated safety leadership across our manufacturing and site‑based operations. The business is at a critical growth stage, with production volumes increasing, the project portfolio expanding and operations growing more complex. You will make sure that growth never comes at the cost of our people’s safety.
This is a hands‑on, floor‑based role. You’ll lead from the front, close out hazards promptly, and build a safety culture that people live rather than just comply with.
What you’ll be doing
Safety & Health Management
- Develop and maintain our Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Own the Safety Statement, risk assessments and safe systems of work across production, stores, loading, transport and site
- Carry out daily inspections across day and evening shifts, plus scheduled safety audits
- Act as competent person and main point of contact for the HSA, including IR1 and dangerous occurrence reporting
- Monitor and report on safety KPIs
- Lead the response to all accidents, incidents and near misses, including scene control and evidence preservation
- Carry out root cause investigations and produce well‑evidenced reports that will stand up to regulators, insurers and legal advisors
- Track corrective actions to closure and share the learning across the business
Operational Safety
- Manage lifting operations, forklift and workplace transport safety
- Oversee contractor safety, including permits to work, RAMS and inductions
- Support site teams with site‑specific safety plans and the PSCS/PSDP interface
- Lead COSHH, fire safety, emergency planning and first aid provision
- Oversee environmental and waste compliance across the facility and sites
Training & Culture
- Deliver inductions, toolbox talks and training for employees, agency staff and contractors
- Track certification renewals for forklift, lifting, first aid and fire warden
- Support and challenge supervisors to take real ownership of safety in their areas
- Report to the CEO and senior leadership team, and host HSA inspections, insurer surveys and client audits
What we’re looking for
- 5+ years in a health and safety role within construction, manufacturing or engineering, including at least 2 years at manager or lead level
- Strong knowledge of Irish H&S legislation, including the SHWW Act 2005, General Application Regulations 2007 and Construction Regulations 2013
- A proven track record of leading incident investigations and producing defensible reports
- Experience managing lifting operations, forklifts and workplace transport
- The confidence to challenge and influence at both shop floor and leadership level
- Strong report‑writing, organisational and IT skills
- A full clean driving licence
- Experience in offsite construction, modular building, steel fabrication or MMC
- Experience implementing or maintaining ISO 45001
- Experience working with multilingual teams and agency labour
- A current Safe Pass and relevant site safety qualifications
The person we’re looking for
You’re practical, visible and approachable. You take ownership of your legal duties without being prompted, follow things through to close‑out, and have the personal authority to hold the line when it matters most.
Above all, you share our belief that every person should go home safe at the end of every shift.
