Job summary

NRL in Dublin is seeking a Health and Safety Manager for a 12-month contract on a major infrastructure programme. You will lead health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across complex, multi-stakeholder contexts and drive a strong safety culture.

You will ensure compliance with Irish legislation, oversee HSW systems, mentor teams, and report insights to governance forums, while championing inclusion and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety Management.
  • Chartered IOSH membership or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish H&S legislation and best practice.
  • Minimum 7 years leadership experience on large infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and promote a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee compliance with Irish safety legislation and regulations.
  • Lead development and continuous improvement of the HSW management system.
  • Configure and test HSW digital systems with data protection in mind.
  • Deputise for the Project HSW Manager in governance meetings.
  • Analyze performance data and provide insight-driven recommendations.
  • Manage training, supplier engagement and service-level management.
  • Conduct audits and close-out findings while driving a safe culture.

Join one of Ireland's most prominent infrastructure programmes as a Health and Safety Manager, based in Dublin. Location and Working Pattern Based in Dublin on a 12-month contract position.

Client Overview

Our client is a global engineering organisation delivering transformative infrastructure solutions. They are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing across all project activities.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee compliance with applicable Irish safety legislation, including the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and associated regulations.
  • Support the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of the Project Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Management System.
  • Lead the configuration, testing and continuous improvement of HSW digital systems, ensuring compliance with data protection standards.
  • Deputise for the Project Health & Safety Manager in governance meetings and senior forums.
  • Analyse performance data, identify trends and provide insight-driven recommendations.
  • Manage project training and capability matrices, including supplier engagement and service-level management.
  • Conduct audits and assurance activities, ensuring close-out of findings.
  • Champion a psychologically safe, inclusive and collaborative culture across the project.
Must-have Requirements
  • Level 6 qualification or degree in Occupational Health & Safety Management.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (or equivalent professional body).
  • Comprehensive understanding of Irish health and safety legislation and best practice requirements.
  • Minimum 7 years' leadership-level experience on large, complex infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and promote a strong safety culture.
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Proficiency with NEC frameworks and contract mechanisms.
  • Experience using digital HSW platforms.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
