Job summary

Davenham Switchgear Limited is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to lead safety, health and welfare across our production facilities in Dublin. The role reports to the Health & Safety Manager and covers low voltage panel production, stores and offices.

You will conduct inspections, audits and risk assessments, manage incident investigations and training, and ensure compliance with statutory obligations. The position is on-site in Dublin with standard hours and competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Essential health and safety qualification (diploma or degree).
• Valid driving license with transport.
• Experience leading projects and implementing initiatives.
• Experience in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Experience formulating, implementing and revising HSE documentation and procedures.
• Experience conducting site audits to monitor health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure statutory health, safety, and welfare obligations are met.
• Maintain and improve EH&S performance per ISO 45001 & ISO 14001.
• Identify measures to enhance health and safety with the H&S Manager.
• Conduct inspections and audits at production facilities and client sites.
• Ensure all equipment undergoes statutory inspection, examination, and testing.
• Assist in managing health, safety, and welfare maintenance.
• Investigate health & safety incidents and near-misses; implement corrective actions.
• Conduct hazard identifications and risk assessments for facilities and activities.
• Review and update health & safety policies, risk assessments, and procedures.
• Deliver and organise training, identify additional training needs.
• Ensure PPE is provided and used correctly by employees.
• Test emergency procedures at intervals.
• Assist in contractor management including pre-qualification and monitoring.
• Perform other duties related to safety, health and welfare.

Location: Weatherwell Industrial Estate, Clondalkin

Role type: On Site, 4.5 days a week

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 7:30am-4:00pm Mon to Thurs. Early finish most Fridays 1pm

Overview: Reporting to the company Health & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Advisor will have a lead role in the management of safety, health and welfare in our production facilities in Cherry Orchard and Clondalkin in Dublin. Operations comprise of production of Low Voltage electrical power distribution panels, stores and offices.

The Health & Safety Advisor will be required to attend all production facilities on an ongoing basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring that Davenham meets all statutory health, safety, and welfare obligations.
• Maintaining and continuously improving EH&S performance in line with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards.
• Identifying suitable measures to enhance health and safety, in agreement with relevant departments and the H&S Manager.
• Conducting inspections and audits at each production facility and client site.
• Ensuring all equipment undergoes statutory inspection, examination, and testing.
• Assist in managing health, safety, and welfare-related maintenance.
• Ensuring all health & safety incidents, including near-misses, are reported, investigated, and that effective corrective actions are implemented.
• Conducting and documenting hazard identification and risk assessments for production facilities, equipment, and activities.
• Regularly reviewing, and updating all health & safety policies, risk assessments, and procedures as necessary.
• Delivering and organising relevant training for employees and identifying additional training needs.
• Ensuring appropriate PPE is provided and used correctly by all employees.
• Regularly testing the effectiveness of emergency procedures at suitable intervals.
• Assisting in the management of contractors, including pre-qualification, review and approval of contractor method statements and risk assessments, induction, monitoring, and supervision as necessary.
• Performing any other duties related to the management of safety, health, and welfare as reasonably required by management.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Health and Safety Diploma or Degree is essential.
• Full clean driving license with transport.
• Experience of leading projects and implementing initiatives.
• Experience in conducting incident investigations and ‘Root Cause Analysis’ to prevent recurrence.
• Experience of formulating, implementing and revising Health and Safety documentation and procedures.
• Experience of conducting site audits on Client sites to monitor health and safety compliance.
