Job description

CameraMatics is a fast-growing SaaS company delivering a comprehensive fleet management service that helps operators improve safety, efficiency, sustainability and compliance. Our cutting-edge platform encompasses in-cab hardware, a cloud back-end and web and mobile applications - we own the full software stack from the edge to the customer.

Innovation is constant here. We continually advance the platform - refining what exists and introducing new capabilities - to stay ahead of a fast-moving market and the evolving needs of the fleets we serve, which is precisely why disciplined product management matters: to channel that pace into the right outcomes, delivered well.

The role

CameraMatics has grown on the strength of its engineering and its market, but product decisions today are made across engineering, sales and leadership without a single owner accountable for what we build, why, and in what order. This role establishes that ownership. As our first Head of Product, you will introduce the product management discipline to the business: creating an evidence-led path from customer problem to shipped capability, and giving the organisation confidence that the roadmap reflects the highest-value work we can realistically deliver.

You will start as a practitioner - running the intake, writing the requirements, making the prioritisation calls - using that hands‑on work to define the operating model and prove its value. As the value of the function becomes clear, you will build the team you have designed and shift from doing the work to leading it: setting direction, coaching, and raising the quality bar. Success is a product organisation that scales beyond you - one that makes consistently good prioritisation calls, ships well‑specified work, and no longer depends on you personally to function.

What you'll do
Own the end-to-end product management lifecycle
  • Intake & backlog: capture, triage and qualify incoming requests from customers, sales, support, leadership and the field into a single structured pipeline, and maintain a well‑groomed backlog as the single source of truth.
  • Analysis & business cases: analyse candidate features, quantify the problem and opportunity, and produce clear business cases that justify investment on commercial and customer-value grounds.
  • Prioritisation: prioritise against strategy, value, lead times and the real delivery capacity of engineering, so plans are honest and achievable.
  • Requirements definition: produce implementation‑ready user stories, acceptance criteria, wireframes and flows in a form a multi‑disciplined development team can pick up and build.
Build the function and team
  • Define the operating model, processes, tooling and cadences, and how product works with engineering, design, sales, customer success and leadership.
  • Establish a modern, AI‑augmented product practice - using AI to raise the speed and quality of intake analysis, requirements drafting, research synthesis and prototyping.
  • Design and build the right‑fit team, defining what good looks like for each role you create, and hire, onboard, coach and develop the people you bring in.
Set direction and work with delivery
  • Contribute to and shape the product strategy and roadmap, and communicate it and its rationale to stakeholders and customers.
  • Own the product direction for AI - identifying where it creates genuine customer value and shaping the responsible, high‑quality delivery of AI-powered features.
  • Balance investment across the product portfolio, weighing competing demands to maximise overall value.
  • Partner with engineering to match priorities to capacity and set realistic lead times, staying engaged through delivery, and use data and customer feedback to measure impact and inform priorities.
What we’re looking for
  • Proven senior product management experience owning the full lifecycle from intake through requirements to delivery - typically 8-10+ years (a guide, not a hard gate), including time in a senior or leadership role.
  • A hands‑on operator and self‑starter, comfortable being the whole team initially and doing both the product and business‑analysis work personally before building it out.
  • Demonstrable skill in writing implementation‑ready requirements, and strong commercial judgement to build and defend business cases.
  • Track record of prioritising a backlog realistically against engineering capacity, lead times and dependencies.
  • Experience building and scaling a product function and team from an early stage.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication across technical and non‑technical audiences, in a technically complex, multi‑platform environment.
Advantageous
  • Experience in the transport, logistics or automotive sector; telematics or video telematics specifically is a strong plus.
  • Experience delivering AI or machine‑learning‑powered product features.
  • Exposure to IoT, connected-device or embedded‑hardware‑backed products, and to AWS and/or Azure.
  • Experience establishing a product function from scratch and hiring a team.
Qualifications
  • Essential: a degree in a business, engineering, computer science or other relevant field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Advantageous: a recognised product management qualification - Pragmatic Institute certification, AIPMM (Certified Product Manager), or a Product School credential.

This is a rare opportunity to shape an entire discipline inside a scaling SaaS business at the point where it matters most. You will have executive visibility, real ownership of the outcome, and the latitude to build the function and team the way you believe it should be done - on a platform that makes fleets safer, more compliant and more efficient.
