Job summary

Solas IT Recruitment is partnering with an established technology business to recruit a Head of PMO in the North Dublin area. This hands-on leadership role reports to the Director of Digital and oversees two Project Managers, directing a portfolio of around 20 active projects from client implementations to internal initiatives.

We’re seeking a commercially minded delivery leader who owns outcomes, prioritises effectively and drives initiatives to completion with minimal escalations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in Project Management delivering multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience mentoring or managing Project Managers or cross-functional delivery teams.
• Exceptional problem‑solving skills with a structured, methodical approach.
• Strong ownership mentality with decision-making and accountability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management, especially with senior leadership.
• Ability to understand how different systems and processes interact without being hands‑on.
• Strong organisational skills and commercial awareness.
• Experience in SaaS, software or digital product environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of project delivery from scoping through testing and implementation.
• Lead and support two Project Managers across a ~20 project portfolio.
• Manage competing priorities to maximise value delivery.
• Identify risks and blockers and implement resolutions rather than escalate.
• Collaborate with Development, Business Analysis, Operations and Finance to implement practical solutions.
• Communicate progress, risks and decisions to senior management and C‑level stakeholders.
• Own and improve project governance, delivery processes and reporting standards.
• Balance timelines, commercial priorities and product quality to deliver fit-for-purpose outcomes.

Location: North Dublin | Hybrid – 3 days onsite

The Opportunity

We are working with an established technology business seeking a highly driven, commercially minded Head of PMO to take ownership of its project delivery function.

This is a hands‑on leadership role, reporting directly to the Director of Digital, with responsibility for managing two Project Managers and overseeing a portfolio of approximately 20 active projects, ranging from major client implementations to smaller internal initiatives.

We are looking for a natural problem solver and strong delivery leader who takes full accountability, knows how to prioritise competing demands and drives projects through to successful completion.

This is not a role for someone who simply tracks progress and escalates issues. We need someone who takes ownership, identifies solutions and gets things done.

Key Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of project delivery, from initial scoping and planning through to testing, implementation and successful completion.
• Lead and support two Project Managers, providing direction, guidance and accountability across the project portfolio.
• Manage competing priorities across approximately 20 projects, ensuring resources and attention are focused where they deliver the greatest value.
• Proactively identify project risks, blockers and delivery challenges, taking responsibility for resolving issues rather than simply escalating them.
• Work closely with Development, Business Analysis, Operations, Finance and other teams to understand issues and coordinate practical solutions.
• Communicate clearly and concisely with senior management, including C‑level stakeholders, providing meaningful updates on progress, risks and decisions.
• Own and continuously improve project governance, delivery processes, planning templates and reporting standards.
• Balance delivery timelines, commercial priorities and product quality, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose without unnecessary delays.

Experience & Skills

• 5+ years’ experience in Project Management, with proven responsibility for delivering multiple concurrent projects.
• Experience managing or mentoring Project Managers or cross‑functional delivery teams.
• Exceptional problem‑solving skills, with a logical, structured and methodical approach to identifying and resolving issues.
• Strong ownership mentality, with the confidence to make decisions, challenge assumptions and drive projects forward independently.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, particularly when dealing with senior leadership and technical teams.
• Ability to understand how different systems, processes and project components interact, without needing to be technically hands‑on.
• Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness and the ability to prioritise effectively.
• Experience in SaaS, software, digital products, eCommerce or technology environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
