Job summary

Madura's Restaurant & Cafe invites an Operations Manager to oversee day-to-day restaurant operations in a fast-paced Indian dining setting. You will lead front-of-house and back-of-house coordination, drive sales, and ensure service excellence across dine‑in, takeaway, delivery and catering.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on leadership, strong customer service skills in English and Tamil, and the ability to manage costs, staff performance and operational challenges in a busy restaurant

Qualifications

• Relevant experience in Indian restaurant or F&B operations, preferably in an operational management role.
• Strong understanding of Indian cuisine, particularly South Indian food and restaurant service.
• Good communication skills in English and Tamil to support communication with English- and Tamil-speaking customers and staff.
• Excellent customer interaction, order-taking, selling and complaint-resolution skills.
• Proven ability to supervise teams and independently manage restaurant operations.
• Strong organisational, multitasking and problem-solving capabilities.
• Willingness to undertake hands-on operational duties, including frontline service.
• Ability to work efficiently in a highly challenging, fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays according to business requirements.
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability and commitment to business performance.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for daily restaurant operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity and service excellence.
• Oversee dine-in, takeaway, delivery and catering operations.
• Coordinate between kitchen, service and management teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Manage peak-hour service, manpower deployment and operational challenges.
• Ensure compliance with food hygiene, workplace safety and regulatory requirements.
• Actively engage customers, understand their requirements and recommend suitable menu items.
• Demonstrate excellent order-taking skills, including handling customised and bulk orders.
• Drive sales through effective upselling, customer engagement and repeat business.
• Handle customer feedback, complaints and difficult situations professionally.
• Support catering enquiries, group bookings and special event orders.
