Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort is currently recruiting an enthusiastic, professional and experienced Gym Instructor / Swimming Teacher to join our Health Club team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate fitness and leisure professional who enjoys working with people and creating a welcoming, safe and enjoyable environment for hotel guests and Health Club members.
The successful candidate will play an active role in the day-to-day operation of the Health Club, providing professional gym instruction, supporting members with their fitness goals and delivering high standards of customer service. The role will also involve swimming instruction and supervision of pool activities, ensuring the highest standards of safety, hygiene and professionalism are maintained at all times.
We are looking for someone who is confident, approachable and enthusiastic, with a genuine passion for health, fitness and swimming.
Please note that the role will involve evening and weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome hotel guests and Health Club members in a warm, friendly and professional manner
- Provide professional gym instruction and guidance to members based on their individual fitness goals and abilities
- Conduct gym inductions and explain the safe and effective use of fitness equipment
- Assist members in developing suitable exercise programmes and provide ongoing support and motivation
- Monitor the gym floor and ensure members are exercising safely and using equipment correctly
- Deliver swimming lessons and provide appropriate instruction based on swimmers' age, ability and individual needs
- Supervise pool activities and ensure all pool and Health Club safety procedures are followed at all times
- Maintain constant awareness of pool safety and respond appropriately to any incidents or emergencies
- Carry out regular checks of gym, pool, changing facilities and other Health Club areas
- Ensure all equipment and facilities are clean, safe, presentable and maintained to the required standard
- Report any maintenance, equipment or safety concerns promptly to management
- Ensure Health Club opening, closing and daily operational procedures are completed correctly
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation throughout the Health Club and pool areas
- Provide information and assistance to members and guests regarding Health Club facilities, services and activities
- Build positive relationships with members and encourage participation in Health Club activities
- Support the delivery of fitness activities, classes, swimming programmes and other Health Club initiatives where required
- Monitor and respond professionally to member and guest feedback
- Ensure all relevant records, checklists and departmental documentation are completed accurately
- Work closely with other Health Club and hotel departments to ensure a seamless guest experience
- Assist colleagues during busy periods and contribute to the smooth and efficient operation of the department
- Participate in departmental training and maintain up-to-date knowledge of health, fitness, swimming, safety and emergency procedures
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and act as an ambassador for Druids Glen Hotel & Golf Resort
- Ensure all company policies, Health Club procedures and health and safety requirements are followed
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Health Club management team
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Gym Instructor / Fitness Instructor with a recognised fitness qualification
- Qualified Swimming Teacher with relevant swimming teaching certification
- Previous experience working in a gym, leisure centre, hotel Health Club or similar environment is desirable
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Friendly, approachable and confident personality
- Passionate about fitness, swimming, health and wellbeing
- Strong understanding of gym equipment, exercise techniques and safe training practices
- Excellent awareness of pool and leisure safety
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Professional approach with a strong commitment to customer service
- Flexible and available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
