Job summary

Egis is seeking a dedicated Hydrogeologist to join our Ireland team. You will lead groundwater monitoring programs, carry out hydrological and hydrogeological assessments, and work with clients and regulators to ensure compliance with environmental legislation.

You’ll collect and interpret groundwater data, develop conceptual models and support EIAR and WFD reporting, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver sustainable water management projects across Ireland.

Qualifications

• Relevant professional experience in hydrology / hydrogeology
• Minimum Level 8 BSc/MSc in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
• Chartered or working towards Chartership (e.g., with the Geological Society or CIWEM)
• Experience with groundwater sampling, drilling supervision, or flood risk desirable
• Proven experience managing complex groundwater assessments and environmental impact projects
• Strong knowledge of Irish/EU water and environmental legislation
• Proficient in hydrogeological modelling tools, GIS, and data analysis

Responsibilities

• Conduct hydrological and hydrogeological impact assessments.
• Collect, analyse and interpret groundwater quality and quantity data.
• Develop, implement and manage groundwater monitoring programmes.
• Prepare Water Framework Directive (WFD), Groundwater Dependent Terrestrial Ecosystem (GWDTE) and hydrogeological risk assessments.
• Contribute to Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and regulatory submissions.
• Undertake site visits, field investigations and technical assessments.
• Prepare factual and interpretative desk studies, site investigation reports and conceptual site models.
• Interpret hydrogeological data and prepare high-quality technical reports.
• Support the design, implementation and interpretation of site investigations.
• Collaborate with clients, regulators and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Assist with project scoping, planning, programming and delivery.
• Support tender opportunities and preparation of fee proposals.
