Job summary

Jennings O’Donovan invites a recent graduate to join our planning team in Sligo as a Graduate Planner. You will work with experienced professionals across Renewable Energy, Environmental, Residential, Commercial and Water sectors, receiving a clear career development path and strong CPD support.

This role offers a hands-on start, work-shadowing opportunities, and a structured pathway to grow within a forward-thinking consultancy in Ireland.

Qualifications

  • Degree accredited by the IPI and/or RTPI.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; GIS experience is a plus.
  • Full, clean driving licence essential for site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with initial research, desktop studies and site assessments.
  • Contribute to planning reports and applications.
  • Support senior staff in EIARs and planning appeals.
  • Learn Irish/UK planning systems and EIA legislation.
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists in multidisciplinary teams.

You will work alongside experienced professionals on diverse projects across the Renewable Energy, Environmental, Residential, Commercial, and Water sectors.

Key Responsibilities


  • Assisting with initial research, desktop studies, and site assessments.

  • Contributing to the preparation of planning reports and applications.

  • Supporting senior staff in the preparation of EIARs and planning appeals.

  • Learning to navigate the Irish and/or UK planning systems and EIA legislation.

  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of engineers and scientists.

  • Participating in site visits and client meetings.



About You – Key Requirements


  • A Degree accredited by the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) and/or Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an eye for detail.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with GIS software is a plus.

  • A full, clean driving licence (essential for site visits).

  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work well in a collaborative team.

Sligo, Republic of Ireland, Jennings O’Donovan began in 1950.
