Job summary

Cundall is recruiting a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Services team in Ireland. You’ll design mechanical services for diverse projects and develop expertise across education, healthcare, and data centres, working closely with senior engineers on multi-disciplinary teams.

Starting September 2027, you’ll have access to professional development and accreditation pathways (CIBSE/IMechE), with a focus on sustainability and career progression.

Qualifications

  • On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree.
  • Desirable if accredited with or on course to achieve a BEng/MEng degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Have a passion for innovative and sustainable mechanical engineering for the built environment.
  • Possessing a desire for personal and professional development and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Digital engineering focus with Grasshopper/Dynamo or programming basics.

Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical building services for exciting construction projects in Ireland and worldwide.
  • Provide specialist consultancy input on projects across education, healthcare, workplace, retail and data centres.
  • Translate clients' needs into detailed mechanical designs for buildings, facilities and services.
  • Develop skills toward chartership with accredited programmes from CIBSE and IMechE.

The Role You'll Play

As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you’ll join a team who specialise in the design of some of the most exciting construction projects in Ireland and worldwide.

Working closely with colleagues across our multi-disciplinary practice, you’ll provide specialist consultancy input on projects across a wide range of sectors including education, healthcare, workplace, retail and critical systems (data centres).

Under the guidance of our team of experienced engineers, we’ll equip you to undertake detailed mechanical building services engineering design and analysis, define and translate clients’ needs into designs for buildings, facilities and services (ventilation, cooling and air conditioning, heating systems and more) - all with sustainability at the forefront of the design.

You’ll have the opportunity over time to assume greater levels of responsibility and autonomy as your professional skills develop and with accredited professional development programmes from CIBSE and IMechE you’ll be fully supported towards achieving chartership.

The Skills You'll Bring
  • On target to achieve at least a 2:2 degree.
  • Desirable if accredited with or on course to achieve a BEng/MEng degree level (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Have a passion about innovative and sustainable mechanical engineering for the built environment.
  • Possessing a desire for personal and professional development, you’ll have the proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Digital engineering is a big focus at Cundall, so ideally, you’ll have an understanding of Parametric ModellingTechniques(Grasshopper or Dynamo), or at least one modern programming language (e.g. Python, C#, VB).
  • You are organised and methodical in your approach to managing your tasks and priorities, striving to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborative in nature, you’ll be able to empathise with your clients’ needs and utilise excellent communication skills, both in writing and verbally, with internal and external stakeholders. You’re used to using your initiative to overcome challenges and have a positive, can-do attitude.
