Job summary

Murphy International Limited in Ireland is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary team on site-based projects across civil, rail, water and energy upgrades. The role offers a two-year development programme with CPD-aligned training and travel across Ireland, with UK opportunities.

You will support commissioning, site maintenance, QA records, and coordinate subcontractors under the supervision of senior site engineers, gaining hands-on experience across multiple

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required or close to graduating by Sep 2027.
• Construction experience is desirable.
• Setting out and surveying techniques desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support commissioning and site maintenance teams in fault finding.
• Assist with resolving technical problems at all levels.
• Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan.
• Accurate maintenance of Quality Management System records.
• Assist with ensuring equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and manufacturers' requirements.
• Assist the Site Management team to update KPI's, material reconciliation and progress reports.

The Role

Murphy are hiring Graduate Mechanical Engineers to work alongside our experienced site engineers across multi discipline construction projects from large scale civils, rail, water, oil & gas and electricity upgrade projects as part of the green energy transition across Ireland. The graduate scheme offers both technical and soft skills courses to help your professional development and growth as a Mechanical engineer. Murphy are committed to developing our Engineers and our CPD Programme is accredited by Engineers Ireland.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Support commissioning and site maintenance teams in fault finding
• Assist with resolving technical problems at all levels
• Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan in a timely manner
• Accurate maintenance of Quality Management System records
• Assist with ensuring equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers' defined requirements
• Ensure the site diary is accurately maintained noting against each record the date, location and serial number of equipment used
• Help with the co‑ordination and supervision of Sub‑contractors in the performance of the Works
• Ensure that only the latest issue drawings and documents are being used
• Ensure all materials on site are suitable, stored in line with manufacturer's recommendations current working practice, contract specification or project requirements
• Assist the Site Management team to update KPI's, material reconciliation and progress reports

Entry Requirements

• Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer (or set to graduate by September 2027)
• Construction Experience (desirable)
• Setting Out and Surveying techniques (desirable)
• Experience in AutoCAD (desirable)

Additional Requirements

You need a full Irish driving licence due to the locations of projects.Eligible to work in the Ireland with a valid work permit if applicable.Please note, we do not provide sponsorship.To provide you with the best development opportunities we may ask you to work away from your home location within the Ireland during your 2-year programme.
