Job summary

Murphy Ireland is recruiting graduate electrical engineers to work with site engineers on multi-discipline construction projects across civil, rail, water, oil & gas and power upgrades as part of Ireland's green energy transition. Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or set to graduate by September 2026).
  • Experience in construction or related field is desirable.
  • Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities required.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate setting out of the works and dimensional control.
  • Assist in testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Assist with resolving technical problems at all levels.
  • Ensure drawings and specs contain sufficient information for construction and request missing information.
  • Carry out inspections per the Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Produce survey information and red-lined As-built records.
  • Maintain safety as per the Project Safety Plan.
  • Maintain Quality Management System records and ensure equipment calibration.

The Role

Murphy are hiring graduate electrical engineers to work alongside our experienced site engineers across multi‑discipline construction projects from large‑scale civils, rail, water, oil & gas and electricity upgrade projects as part of the green energy transition across Ireland. The graduate scheme offers both technical and soft‑skills courses to help your professional development and growth as an electrical engineer. Murphy are committed to developing our engineers and our CPD Programme is accredited by Engineers Ireland.

Key Responsibilities And Duties
  • Accurate setting out of the works and dimensional control.
  • Assist in testing, troubleshooting and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Assist with resolving technical problems at all levels.
  • Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Formally request any missing information in sufficient time to allow the programme to proceed without delay.
  • Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan.
  • The production of survey information and red‑lined drawings for the completion of the As‑built records.
  • Ensuring activities are carried out in a safe manner in accordance with the Project Safety Plan.
  • Accurate maintenance of Quality Management System records.
  • Ensure equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers’ defined requirements.
  • Ensure the site diary is accurately maintained noting against each record the date, location and serial number of equipment used.
  • Inform senior management of any non‑conformances or poor workmanship.
  • Ensure all site personnel have clear, accurate and appropriate information to carry out their duties.
  • Close liaison with the Site Foreman/Supervisor and Works Managers.
  • Assist with the co‑ordination and supervision of Sub‑contractors in the performance of the Works.
  • Ensure that only the latest issue drawings and documents are being used.
  • Ensure all materials on site are suitable, stored in line with manufacturer’s recommendations, current working practice, contract specification or project requirements.
  • Assist the Site Management team to update KPI’s, material reconciliation and progress reports.
  • Assist QS with site quantities and measures for monthly valuations.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design electrical systems, circuits, for various projects. Conduct analysis and simulations to ensure the functionality and safety.
  • Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for electrical systems. Maintain accurate records and update design documents, as necessary.
Entry Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or set to graduate by September 2026).
Skills / Experience

  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Additional Requirements
  • You need a full Irish driving licence due to the locations of projects.
  • Eligible to work in Ireland with a valid work permit if applicable. Note, we do not provide sponsorship.
