Murphy is hiring a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to work alongside senior site engineers on multi-discipline construction projects across Ireland. The role focuses on technical development within a 2-year graduate program, with travel across Ireland and potential UK opportunities.

The programme includes CPD courses accredited by Engineers Ireland and ongoing professional growth as you contribute to commissioning, inspections, and quality records on live projects.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer or close to graduation by September 2027.
• Construction experience desirable.
• Setting out and surveying techniques desirable.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Support site commissioning and maintenance teams.
• Assist with resolving technical problems at all levels.

The Role

Murphy are hiring Graduate Mechanical Engineers to work alongside our experienced site engineers across multi discipline construction projects from large scale civils, rail, water, oil & gas and electricity upgrade projects as part of the green energy transition across Ireland. The graduate scheme offers both technical and soft skills courses to help your professional development and growth as a Mechanical engineer.

Murphy are committed to developing our Engineers and our CPD Programme is accredited by Engineers Ireland.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Support commissioning and site maintenance teams in fault finding
• Assist with resolving technical problems at all levels.
• Carry out inspections in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan in a timely manner.
• Accurate maintenance of Quality Management System records.
• Assist with ensuring equipment is calibrated, in date and suitable checked in accordance with company policies and the manufacturers’ defined requirements.
• Ensure the site diary is accurately maintained noting against each record the date, location and serial number of equipment used.
• Help with the co‑ordination and supervision of Sub-contractors in the performance of the Works.
• Ensure that only the latest issue drawings and documents are being used.
• Ensure all materials on site are suitable, stored in line with manufacturer’s recommendations current working practice, contract specification or project requirements.
• Assist the Site Management team to update KPI’s, material reconciliation and progress reports.

Entry Requirements

• Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer (or set to graduate by September 2027)
• Construction Experience (desirable)
• Setting Out and Surveying techniques (desirable)

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

• Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel

Additional Requirements

You need a full Irish driving licence due to the locations of projects.

Eligible to work in the Ireland with a valid work permit if applicable. Please note, we do not provide sponsorship.
