Job summary

European Tech Recruit is assisting a leading global technology company in Cork, Ireland, to hire a GPU Physical Implementation Engineer. You will contribute to the implementation, optimisation, and delivery of advanced GPU designs, from synthesis through place-and-route.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in a related field and 2+ years of GPU experience, with hands-on familiarity with STA, PNR, and power analysis, and a collaborative mindset across design teams.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of GPU experience in semiconductor, SoC, graphics, or related environments.
  • Strong understanding of physical implementation methodologies for complex SoC designs.
  • Experience with synthesis and PNR tools, flows, and methodologies.
  • Understanding of circuit design principles and semi-custom design methodologies.
  • Experience with STA and timing closure.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the physical implementation of advanced GPU designs from synthesis through place-and-route and final implementation.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise physical design methodologies, flows, and implementation processes.
  • Work across teams to align physical implementation with GPU architecture, design, performance, power, and product requirements.
  • Support the development of high-quality GPU systems that balance performance, power, area, and implementation complexity.
  • Analyse and optimise GPU designs against timing, power, performance, and physical design targets.
  • Execute and debug synthesis and PNR flows across complex SoC/GPU designs.
  • Perform static timing analysis (STA) and investigate timing violations and implementation bottlenecks.
  • Conduct power analysis and identify opportunities to improve GPU power efficiency.

We are currently partnered with a leading global technology company developing advanced GPU and semiconductor technologies for next-generation computing, graphics, and connected devices.

As part of their continued investment in high-performance graphics architectures, they are looking to hire a GPU Physical Implementation Engineer to contribute to the implementation, optimisation, and delivery of advanced GPU designs.

Key responsibilities
  • Contribute to the physical implementation of advanced GPU designs from synthesis through place-and-route and final implementation
  • Develop, maintain, and optimise physical design methodologies, flows, and implementation processes
  • Work across teams to align physical implementation with GPU architecture, design, performance, power, and product requirements
  • Support the development of high-quality GPU systems that balance performance, power, area, and implementation complexity

Key requirements
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 2+ years of relevant GPU experience within semiconductor, SoC, graphics, or related technology environments
  • Strong understanding of physical implementation methodologies for complex SoC designs
  • Experience with synthesis and PNR (place-and-route) tools, flows, and methodologies
  • Strong understanding of SoC design implementation and physical design methodologies
  • Knowledge of semiconductor process technology and its impact on physical implementation
  • Understanding of circuit design principles and semi-custom design methodologies
  • Experience with Static Timing Analysis (STA) and timing closure
