Job summary

SumUp is seeking a senior tax leader to drive execution of the tax strategy across a complex, multinational business with a strong focus on Europe. Reporting to the Global Head of Tax, you will lead cross-border structuring, transfer pricing, and governance while partnering with Finance, Legal, and operations to enable strategic growth.

The role requires deep corporate tax expertise, experience leading tax teams, and a hands-on approach to translate strategy into practical execution across 40+

Qualifications

• Progressive tax experience in multinational environments (in-house or advisory).
• Expertise in corporate tax and transfer pricing with cross-border exposure.
• Knowledge of Pillar Two / GloBE, CbCR, and public CbCR.
• Experience leading tax teams and developing people.
• Hands-on mindset for strategy and execution.
• Experience with tax audits and controversy management.
• Strong accounting/financial statement literacy.

Responsibilities

• Lead execution of SumUp’s tax strategy across corporate tax, transfer pricing, indirect tax, withholding tax, and emerging regimes.
• Translate strategic tax priorities into practical plans across the business and tax team.
• Be a hands-on business partner on structuring, M&A, market expansion, financing arrangements, entity changes, and new product initiatives.
• Oversee and refine the Group’s transfer pricing framework with internal and external partners.
• Support Pillar Two, CbCR, public CbCR, and other regulatory topics.
• Drive governance, controls, documentation, and decision-making for compliance.
• Lead, coach, and develop the Tax Strategy team and collaborate with Tax Compliance and Tax Operations.
• Co-own controversy matters with authorities, auditors, and advisers.
• Build relationships across Finance, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, FP&A, and business units.
