SLR Consulting Ltd in Dublin is seeking an experienced Geologist/Engineering Geologist to join our Dublin team. You will work across geoscience disciplines, mentor junior staff, and develop your skills in engineering geology and geotechnical engineering.

The role involves supervising drilling programs, logging cores, planning ground investigations, preparing reports, and contributing to conceptual site models. Regular site work and CAD/GIS usage are expected.

Qualifications

• BSc Geology or related Earth Science training.
• Proven ability to communicate clearly in reports and verbally.
• Experience with core logging and sampling is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supervision of mineral resource drilling programmes and geological core logging.
• Planning procurement and management of ground investigations and reports.
• Undertaking quarry inspections, sampling and sample management.
• Generating and managing geological/geotechnical databases; petrographic analyses and reports.

Due to a steadily increasing workload, we currently have an opportunity within our Dublin office for an enthusiastic and motivated geologist to join our team. Given the diverse nature of SLR’s business, the successful candidate will be given the opportunity to gain a wide range of experience and work across multiple geoscience disciplines. This position is ideal for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and knowledge in engineering geology and/or geotechnical engineering and is or soon to be recognised as a professional, chartered geologist (PGeo). We are seeking an experienced Geologist / Engineering Geologist with a strong technical background and an excellent track record in project management. The role involves mentoring junior staff, so effective communication skills are essential.

About the role

• Supervision of mineral resource drilling programmes and geological core logging
• Planning procurement and management of ground investigations and preparation of factual and interpretative reports
• Undertaking routine quarry inspections, aggregate sampling and sample management
• Generating and manging geological / geotechnical databases; Petrographic analyses and preparation of technical reports
• Reviewing, interpreting and reporting the results of routine aggregate analysis; and Preparing geological Conceptual Site Models.

The position will involve regular site work which may involve working on sites away from home for short periods. It is desirable that applicants have some experience of using CAD or GIS software.

About you:

• BSc Geology (or related subject) and formal academic training in Earth Science
• Experience of core logging and sampling would be useful
• An effective communicator, both verbally and within written reports
• Familiarity with CAD, ArcGIS, MapInfo or QGIS would be advantageous
• A full driving licence valid in Ireland/the EU
