Job summary

Murphy Geospatial – A Woolpert Company is seeking an Operations & Survey Technical Manager to lead the Topographical Survey and Mobile Mapping teams. You will oversee planning, execution, and delivery of survey projects, ensuring quality, safety, and client satisfaction.

You will coordinate field and processing teams, manage staffing, and support tendering and growth initiatives while promoting technical excellence and staff development across the department.

Qualifications

• Degree in Surveying, Geospatial, Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience managing surveying, geospatial, mobile mapping, or similar operations.
• Strong leadership and people-management capabilities.
• Excellent client-facing skills and stakeholder management.
• Knowledge of health and safety requirements for field operations.
• Experience supporting tender submissions, budgeting, forecasting, or commercial activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Topographical Survey and Mobile Mapping teams.
• Plan and coordinate survey crew schedules, resources, and staffing.
• Monitor progress and proactively resolve operational challenges.
• Manage project mobilisation, logistics, risk assessments, and compliance.
• Act as main client contact and provide updates on delivery.
• Oversee full project lifecycle from data capture through processing, QA and final delivery.
• Coordinate workflows between field teams, processing teams and subcontractors.
• Provide technical guidance to surveyors and processing staff.
• Ensure data and project information are maintained in project management systems.
• Drive QA processes and ensure deliverables meet standards.
• Develop and maintain operational procedures and best practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and project delivery.
