Job description

Geospatial Consultant – Commercial & Business Development
Ready for a broader role in the geospatial industry?

At iO Geomatics, we're looking for an experienced Geospatial Consultant to take a leading role in developing client relationships, pricing projects and growing our business.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished surveying professional who combines strong technical knowledge with proven commercial experience.

You'll engage directly with clients, develop survey solutions, prepare proposals and take ownership of projects from initial enquiry through to award.

Working alongside our experienced operations team, you'll help shape the projects we undertake, how they're delivered and their commercial success.

We're not looking for someone to simply prepare quotations. We're looking for someone who understands surveying, understands clients and knows how to turn opportunities into successful projects.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Client Engagement – Build relationships with existing and prospective clients, understand their requirements and recommend effective survey solutions.
  • Estimating & Pricing – Take ownership of quotations, tenders and fixed-price estimates, using your surveying knowledge to develop practical and competitive proposals.
  • Business Development – Manage enquiries, follow up opportunities and develop a strong pipeline of profitable work.
  • Technical Consultancy – Advise clients on survey methodologies across mobile mapping, UAV LiDAR, laser scanning, measured building and topographical surveying.
  • Commercial Management – Monitor project budgets, resources and profitability, working with the operations team to keep projects commercially on track.
  • Project Handover – Work closely with our Survey Team to ensure awarded projects are properly scoped, resourced and ready for delivery.
  • Project Preparation – Coordinate project start-up requirements, including RAMS, safety documentation, access and traffic management.
  • Site Assessments – Undertake occasional site visits to assess more complex projects and develop appropriate survey methodologies.
Who We're Looking For

You may currently be working as a Geospatial Consultant, Senior Land Surveyor, Survey Manager, Technical Survey Consultant or Commercial Surveyor.

What matters most is that you already understand both the technical and commercial sides of the surveying industry.

You'll bring:
  • A strong background in land surveying or geospatial services.
  • Proven experience preparing quotations, tenders and commercial proposals.
  • A sound understanding of survey methodologies, project resources and delivery costs.
  • Experience working directly with clients and developing business opportunities.
  • The commercial judgement to price work competitively while protecting profitability.
  • Confidence to manage enquiries, make decisions and work independently.
  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills.

Experience across multiple surveying disciplines would be particularly valuable.

This is a role for someone who already has commercial experience within the industry and is ready to take ownership of that responsibility from the outset.
Why Join iO Geomatics?
  • Above-average salary – A remuneration package that reflects your experience and the value you bring.
  • Hybrid Working – Flexibility to combine office and remote working, with occasional site visits.
  • Real Autonomy – Take ownership of the commercial function, with the freedom to make a meaningful contribution.
  • Career Opportunity – Play an important role in shaping the growth and direction of an established surveying business.
  •  Advanced Technology – Work with a company investing in mobile mapping, UAV LiDAR, NavVis and laser scanning.
  • Experienced Team – Work alongside capable survey and processing teams who understand how to deliver complex projects.
  • Variety – Engage with clients and projects across infrastructure, engineering, construction and the built environment.
  • Balanced Working Environment – A practical, organised approach focused on delivering quality work efficiently.
