Job summary

ST. AIDAN'S SERVICES in Gorey, Co. Wexford, Ireland, is seeking a part-time gardener to join our Garden Centre team on a Community Services Programme. The role is 23 hours per week, on-site, with a friendly team and training provided.

You will assist customers with garden maintenance, perform grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding and general tidying, and help maintain stock and equipment. A full clean driving license is required, and horticultural qualification is desirable.

Qualifications

• Applicants must have experience/interest in Gardening Maintenance.
• Must hold a full clean driving license and be willing to drive company vehicles.
• A qualification in horticulture

Responsibilities

• Assisting and guiding customers regarding the maintenance of their garden
• To act on his/her own initiative and develop ideas with management on how to improve the service to customers.
• The implementation of standards and procedures under the Health and Safety Regulations.
• To visit the site of the job and assess the work that must be done and price the job accordingly.
• To carry out garden maintenance in the local area, duties to include grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding and spraying gardens and the general tidying up of customer gardens.
• List stock requirements and stock control. Ensure all stock on show is of high quality, well presented and well merchandised
• To be responsible for the protection and maintenance of all garden machinery.
• The holder of the post will be requested to participate in weekend rotas for duties at St. Aidan’s Services Garden Centre, as deemed necessary by the Community Services Programme Manager.
• All duties will be carried out with a particular awareness of Health and Safety at Work in relation to not only yourself, but also those we support in our services, your staff colleagues and other people in any of the locations.
• Such other duties relating to the above as may be required for the satisfactory operation of the Garden Centre together with such other duties as may be required in relation to the general Garden Centre business of St. Aidan’s Services.
• To carry out garden maintenance in the local area. Duties to include grass cutting, hedge cutting and general garden maintenance.
• Attend regular meetings as agreed.
• Comprehensive induction training and ongoing in-house professional development.

We are seeking applications from energetic and enthusiastic individuals to join our team for the above position in our Garden Centre. Candidates must be highly motivated, creative with experience/interest in gardening maintenance. This is a part-time 23 hours average per week position on a Community Services Programme which is funded by Pobal through the Department of Rural & Community Development.

Pobal is an intermediary that works on behalf of the Government to support communities and local agencies towards achieving social inclusion, reconciliation and equality.
