Job summary

Dawn Farms is seeking a Science & Innovation Food Technologist to join the S&I Department in Naas, Co. Kildare. You will lead experimental design and pilot plant trials, supporting protein product development and innovations.

The role offers exposure to state-of-the-art food research in a manufacturing environment, with opportunities for growth and cross-functional collaboration across departments. On-site position based at the Naas head office, with travel as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Food Fermentation, or related field.
• General understanding of food applications and processing.
• Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to read, collect, analyse, and interpret technical information and data.
• Logical and scientific thinking applied to a wide range of problems.
• Ability to operate standard laboratory and pilot equipment following training.
• Troubleshooting skills and motivation to learn.
• Project management skills for prioritising multiple tasks.
• Ability to distinguish colours and flavours.
• Understanding GMP and Food Safety concepts.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute practical experiments and trials in the S&I kitchen, pilot plant, or factories.
• Collaborate with Project Managers on trial design and timelines.
• Generate, interpret, and document data in SharePoint/OneNote.
• Present data to drive decisions during prototype testing.
• Evaluate new ingredients, materials, products, or processes.
• Develop expertise in process and analytical methodologies; update SOPs.
• Capture learnings and share within internal communications.
• Coordinate trial planning and knowledge transfer.
• Work with cross-functional teams on project tasks.
• Provide scientific guidance to team members and departments.
• Ensure food safety and comply with SOPs and hygiene practices.
