Job summary

SAS is seeking a Flight Ops Lead Investigator and FDM Gatekeeper in Dublin. You will independently review and analyse Flight Data Monitoring events, transforming data into actionable safety intelligence to identify hazards, monitor safety performance, and drive improvements.

The role includes leadership, mentoring, and quality assurance for Flight Safety Investigators. You will report to the Safety Manager within SAS Connect and may work from the Dublin office, SAS HQ in Sweden, or Arlanda

Qualifications

• Degree or recognised qualification in Aviation, Safety Management, or a related discipline.
• Formal training in Flight Data Monitoring, Safety Management Systems, or aviation safety investigation.
• Training in Human Factors, Threat and Error Management, and aviation risk assessment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Review assigned FDM events within agreed timelines.
• Validate FDM triggers and determine genuine operational exceedances or false activations.
• Analyze flight data considering aircraft performance, flight path management, energy management, and context.
• Assess safety significance using the company’s Safety Risk Management process.
• Identify hazards, contributing factors, and recurring trends.
• Provide technical flight data analysis to support investigations and safety actions.
• Maintain records of FDM assessments and recommendations in the Safety Management System.
• Support safety reports, Safety Action Groups, and Safety Review Boards with FDM data.
