Job summary

Transdev Dublin Light Rail is seeking a Fleet Engineering Manager to lead the Fleet team across the Luas operation. Based at the company premises in Dublin, you will develop and deliver asset management strategies, oversee maintenance planning and documentation, and drive improvements in reliability and safety.

You will manage performance, set workloads, coordinate with suppliers and the Commission for Railway Regulations, and ensure compliance with engineering practices.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 8 qualification in engineering.
  • 5+ years in engineering, with 2+ years in management.
  • Railway industry experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety risk analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver asset management strategy in line with ISO 55001.
  • Plan and implement maintenance within tolerance; review annual plan updates.
  • Create and update fleet maintenance documentation and records.
  • Lead fleet overhauls and non-planned maintenance projects.
  • Drive reliability projects based on data analysis and experience.
  • Ensure all projects comply with engineering practices and regulations.
  • Coordinate with suppliers/contractors to meet standards and schedules.
  • Develop solutions for component obsolescence and FRACAS implementation.
  • Manage engineering change control processes and defect documentation.
  • Coordinate with client and railway regulators as required.

Position Overview

Transdev Dublin Light Rail is looking for a Fleet Engineering Manager who will lead the Fleet team within the Luas operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver asset management strategy in line with ISO 55001.
  • Work with Fleet Maintenance to plan and implement the maintenance plan within tolerance; review and approve annual plan updates.
  • Create and update fleet maintenance documentation, including work instructions, certificates, toolbox talks, etc.
  • Implement fleet overhauls and non‑planned/emerging maintenance projects.
  • Implement reliability projects based on data analysis and return of experience.
  • Ensure all projects and initiatives adhere to engineering practices and compliance regulations.
  • Work with suppliers and contractors to guarantee parts and services meet standards and schedules.
  • Develop solutions for component obsolescence.
  • Implement and deliver the Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS).
  • Manage engineering change control processes.
  • Produce supporting documents for defects and variations.
  • Coordinate with client and the Commission for Railway Regulations as required.
  • Implement lean maintenance techniques.
  • Set and prioritise workload for the engineering team.
  • Manage performance of engineering team members.
  • Manage annual leave, sickness, overtime, etc. for the engineering team.
Required Education and Experience
  • Minimum Level 8 qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in an engineering department, with 2+ years in a managerial role.
  • Preferably five years of experience in the railway industry, or experience in the design or maintenance of safety systems.
  • Experience in the maintenance industry.
  • Working knowledge of safety risk analysis.

Additional Information
