Job summary

QCS Staffing Ltd seeks a Fire Protection Support Engineer for a Cork, Ireland project on an initial 12-month contract within the life sciences sector. The role focuses on reviewing fire protection design deliverables, codes and standards, and coordinating with authorities and insurers.

The successful candidate will bring experience with EN/NFPA standards and third-party submittal reviews, supporting design evolution from concept through construction in a high-hazard facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Extensive fire protection engineering on industrial or pharma capital projects.
• Knowledge of EN (e.g., EN 12845, EN 54) and NFPA codes (e.g., NFPA 13, 20, 72).
• Experience reviewing third-party design and vendor submittals.

Responsibilities

• Review fire protection design deliverables against EN/NFPA codes and client standards.
• Engage with authorities and track permit conditions through design.
• Resolve construction-phase fire protection queries and design changes.
• Support inspection, testing and witness programs with insurers and authorities.
