Job summary

Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa in Meath seeks a Financial Controller to lead the Finance function, overseeing budgeting, reporting and internal controls for the hotel.

You will work with the General Manager and senior team to manage cash flow, audits and capital project costings, and drive profitability through rigorous financial management and strategic insights.

Qualifications

• The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with 3+ years post qualification experience.
• Experience with Hospitality accounting systems is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and control all aspects of the finance function of the hotel.
• Prepare monthly management accounts including P&L, balance sheet, and cashflow forecasts.
• Lead forecasts for revenue and costs and identify risks and opportunities.
• Manage capital project costings for approval by Head Office.
• Ensure internal controls are robust and financial reporting is timely.

About Us

Dunboyne Castle Hotel & Spa is a luxury estate, nestled in 21 acres of lush green Meath countryside. The Georgian mansion which welcomes visitors today was originally built in 1764, on the same site as the original castle. Dunboyne Castle was acquired by Mr. Thomas Röggla in December 2022. The hotel joined his collection of luxury Irish hotels forming the TMR Hotel Collection, including Farnham Estate Spa & Golf Resort, Harvey’s Point, Mount Wolseley & Aghadoe Heights.

Role and Responsibilities:

Oversee and control all aspects of the Finance function of the Hotel.

• Work closely with the General Manager and the Senior team ensuring all HOD’s are aware of expected KPI’s including wages, GP’S and departmental margins.
• Prepare Monthly Management Accounts to strict deadlines which include Profit & Loss, KPI’S, Balance Sheet reconciliation, and Cashflow forecast.
• Lead review and update forecasts for both revenue and costs. Identify risks and opportunities that may affect the financial performance of the hotel.
• Prepare costings of all Capital projects for approval by Head Office.
• Monitor all Group internal controls to ensure they are being maintained and robust.
• Maximise profitability of the Hotel through commercial awareness, strict controls and input into key strategic decisions.
• Manage Cashflows ensuring bank payments fall within schedule.
• Income Audit management ensuring accuracy and no leakage of cash.
• Prepare ad hoc reports and analysis for Management and Head office.
• Preparation of annual Budgets
• Responsible for annual Audit and maintenance of files for Group internal review.

Key Responsibilities

• Pro-active contribution to the overall property management and cost management.
• Safeguard the assets of the hotel with particular emphasis on the maintenance of sound internal control systems.
• To develop the skills and competencies of the finance teams in all areas of the finance function.
• To assist in the personal development of relevant management on financial awareness.
• To drive and lead our departmental managers in achieving our hotel KPI’s.
• To posses a strong acumen in technology to analysis data in real time and turn into valuable business insights.
• Preparation of monthly management accounts including Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
• Preparation of weekly financial reports including forecasting of profits, cash and payroll.
• Assistance in the preparation of books and files for audit and declaration of VAT and payroll taxes, including compliance with payment deadlines.

Requirements

• We are looking for ambitious, confident and professional individual with strong communication, organisational, analytical and management skills.
• Process of weekly payroll
• Processing of creditors ledger (Procure Wizard & Sage)
• System experience of Sage, Opera and Procure Wizard though not essential.
• The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with 3+ years’ proven experience in an accountancy role.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience and must have worked in a hospitality or food & beverage environment.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Be able to effectively work with and guide other members of the management team in relevant financial matters.
