Job summary

Merit Medical Galway seeks an experienced finance professional to lead European accounting functions, including month-end close, payroll, VAT, and statutory reporting. You will drive process improvements, ensure SOX compliance, and provide accurate financial analysis to support management decisions.

Key requirements include a Bachelor's in Accounting, ACA/ACCA qualification, strong Excel and Oracle EPM knowledge, and prior experience in a Finance Shared Service environment.

Qualifications

• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Qualified ACA/ACCA Accountant.
• Broad knowledge of accounting and financial control principles.
• Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in performing accounting tasks.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Excellent Excel reporting skills and ability to analyse data.
• Strong computer and analytical skills including Microsoft Office.
• Experience in a Finance Shared Service environment is advantageous.
• Knowledge and experience of Oracle EPM desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close for several European entities.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for bank, fixed assets, payroll and accruals.
• Prepare payroll and reconcile for European employees.
• Prepare VAT and intrastate returns for European Sales Entities.
• Liaise with European Accounting firms on tax issues and reporting.
• Advise and assist European Regional Director on finance issues.
• Prepare and analyse data and create reports for management.
• Ensure accurate compilation of accounting information and reporting.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Drive continuous improvements using lean tools where appropriate.
• Ensure SOX 404 compliance for the area.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and provide KPI input.
• Maintain accounting files and archives.
• Assist in special financial analysis and projects.
• Travel as required to support business needs.

Summary Of Duties

Responsible for managing the financial reporting, compliance, payroll, tax, and month-end close activities for multiple European entities while driving process improvements and providing financial analysis and business support.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Support month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close for a number of European Entities.
• Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations for bank, fixed assets, payroll, accruals etc.
• Prepare payroll and reconcile on a monthly basis for European employees.
• Prepare VAT returns and intrastate returns for European Sales Entities.
• Liaise with European Accounting firms on tax issues and statutory reporting.
• Advise and assist European Regional Director in any finance related issues or needs.
• Ability to prepare and analyse data and create reports for management.
• Ensures accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting.
• Provide support for internal and external audits.
• Proposal and development of continuous improvements using lean tools to existing processes and procedures where appropriate.
• Ensure SOX 404 compliance for functional area of responsibility.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and provide input for KPIs.
• Responsible for ensuring accounting files and archives are maintained.
• Assist in special financial analysis reporting and projects, as required.
• Performs a variety of other related accounting tasks, as required.
• Willingness and flexibility to travel as required to support business needs.

Education/ Qualification

• Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Qualified ACA/ACCA Accountant.
