Job summary

Merit Medical Galway is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the maintenance and facility teams, ensuring reliable operation of production and site systems. You will manage staff, coordinate repairs, and drive continuous improvements across equipment and utilities.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with HVAC, chillers, RO water systems, BMS and related utilities, plus strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Three+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing, production, facilities or regulated environments.
• Demonstrated leadership competencies.
• Knowledge of maintenance techniques such as RCM, predictive and preventive maintenance, TPM and Lean initiatives.

Summary Of Duties

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the supervision and training of maintenance and facility team members and will ensure the effective maintenance, operation and reliability of both production and facility-related equipment and systems.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

• Supervises team and sets clear goals for each team member.
• Interviews, hires, trains team members as needed.
• Evaluates job performance, schedules work and other work-related responsibilities.
• Responsible for the scheduling and supervision of the repair and maintenance of production equipment and facility-related plant and utilities.
• Trains technicians on using up-to-date techniques to problem solve repeat equipment and facilities breakdown issues and implement solutions to prevent further issues.
• Develops and maintains KPI's and metrics for the department.
• Ensures adequate inventory of critical spare parts for all production and facilities equipment.
• Responsible for the reliable operation, maintenance and compliance of site facilities systems, including HVAC, chillers, compressors, RO water systems, fire alarm systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated utilities.
• Coordinates contractors and service providers to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate facility-based sustainability projects in support of Merit’s Sustainability Strategy, ensuring initiatives are delivered in line with established goals, targets and timelines.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to identify, implement and monitor sustainability and energy reduction initiatives that improve facility performance and support corporate environmental objectives
• Writes reports, extracts engineering or other data from various reports and processes and presents the data.
• Solicits and receives technical advice from engineers and external contractors for assistance in solving complex problems.
• Support and coach team members and share constructive feedback as needed. Encourage team to bring forth engagement actions relevant to them to improve engagement overall for the team.
• Performs other related duties and tasks as required.

Qualifications/Experience

• Three or more years of maintenance experience within a manufacturing, production, facilities or regulated environment.
• Demonstrated leadership competencies.
• Knowledge of maintenance techniques such as Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Predictive and Preventive Maintenance as well as TPM and other Lean initiatives.
• Knowledge of and ability to apply principles of supervision.
• Good knowledge and experience of facilities‑related plant equipment, including chillers, compressors, HVAC systems, RO water systems, fire alarm systems, Building Management Systems (BMS) and associated utilities is required.
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to solve moderately complex technical problems.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to delegate work.
• Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem solving and conflict management skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, AutoCAD, SolidWorks and other applicable software programs.
• Ability to work well as a team member.
• Knowledge of various tooling and testing equipment.
