Job summary

Merit Medical Galway is seeking a qualified finance professional to manage the financial reporting, payroll, VAT, and month-end close for multiple European entities. The role also focuses on process improvements, internal audits, and SOX compliance within a Finance Shared Service environment.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Accounting with ACA/ACCA qualification, strong Excel and reporting skills, and the ability to handle high data volumes while meeting tight deadlines.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Qualified ACA/ACCA accountant.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial control principles.

Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end close for multiple European entities.
  • Prepare journal entries and reconciliations for bank, fixed assets, payroll, accruals, etc.
  • Prepare payroll and reconcile monthly for European employees.
  • Prepare VAT and intrastate returns for European sales entities.
  • Assist European taxpayers with tax issues and statutory reporting.
  • Support audits and drive process improvements using lean tools.
  • Ensure SOX 404 compliance in the area.

Together, we are making a difference in the lives of patients around the world.SUMMARY OF DUTIESResponsible for managing the financial reporting, compliance, payroll, tax, and month-end close activities for multiple European entities while driving process improvements and providing financial analysis and business support.Duties/ResponsibilitiesSupport month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close for a number of European Entities.Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations for bank, fixed assets, payroll, accruals etc.Prepare payroll and reconcile on a monthly basis for European employees.Prepare VAT returns and intrastate returns for European Sales Entities.Liaise with European Accounting firms on tax issues and statutory reporting.Advise and assist European Regional Director in any finance related issues or needs.Ability to prepare and analyse data and create reports for management.Ensures accurate and timely compilation of accounting information, analysis and reporting.Provide support for internal and external audits.Proposal and development of continuous improvements using lean tools to existing processes and procedures where appropriate.Ensure SOX 404 compliance for functional area of responsibility.Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and provide input for KPIs.Responsible for ensuring accounting files and archives are maintained.Assist in special financial analysis reporting and projects, as required.Performs a variety of other related accounting tasks, as required.Willingness and flexibility to travel as required to support business needs.Education/ QualificationEducation and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.Qualified ACA/ACCA Accountant.A broad knowledge of accounting and financial control principles and their business applications.Excellent accuracy and attention to detail in performing accounting tasks.Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet strict deadlines.Excellent Excel reporting skills and ability to analyse a high volume of data.Excellent computer and analytical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Previous experience of working in a Finance Shared Service environment is advantageous.Knowledge and experience of Oracle EPM highly desirable but not essential.Key BenefitsAttractive Salary packageDefined Contribution Pension PlanHealth Insurance CoverLife assuranceHealth & Wellbeing Events CalendarExcellent career progression opportunitiesRecognition schemeFree ParkingEducational assistanceInternal training coursesQuality Subsidised Canteens & Barista ServiceActive Sports and Social ClubWe are GlobalMerit Medical Galway commenced with 22 employees in 1993.
