Job summary

BEST Menswear in Ireland's largest independent menswear retailer is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to manage the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate financial information to support business decision-making.

You will lead the finance team, prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts and budgets, maintain strong controls, and ensure timely compliance with PAYE, VAT and statutory reporting across the business.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Financial Accountant to manage the day-to-day finance function and provide accurate financial information to support business decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including Profit and Loss Accounts and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare cash-flow forecasts, annual budgets and financial projections.
• Manage and support the company’s finance team.
• Provide clear and timely financial information to support commercial and operational decision-making.
• Collect, analyse, investigate and report on financial data, identifying key trends and variances.
• Oversee the maintenance and accuracy of the Sales, Purchases, Bank, Stock, Payroll and General Ledgers.
• Prepare and file PAYE, VAT and other Revenue returns accurately and on time.
• Support the year-end audit and the preparation of statutory financial statements.
• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
• Work closely with senior management and other departments across the business.
• Support ad-hoc accounting, finance and business improvement projects.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or an equivalent qualification.
• Qualified accountant—ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Previous experience preparing management accounts and financial statements.
• Experience managing or supervising a finance team.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, accounting processes and Revenue compliance.
• Retail or multi-site business experience would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of SAP would be an advantage.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
