Job summary

Sofina Foods is seeking a Finance Lead / Financial Controller for its Tullamore site. You will partner with the Plant Manager to drive labour efficiency, yield improvement and cost control while leading the site finance team on a hands-on, shop-floor oriented path to value creation.

The role sits on-site and centers on robust financial governance, timely reporting, and strategic financial input to improve profitability and operational performance across the site.

Qualifications

• Significant finance experience within manufacturing, FMCG or a similarly operational environment.
• Experience leading and developing finance teams.
• Strong financial reporting, analysis and business partnering skills.
• Proven ability to influence operational decision-making through data and financial insight.
• Experience managing month-end processes, balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
• Strong understanding of cost management, inventory performance and operational KPIs.
• Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to understand and influence margin performance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience partnering with senior operational leaders and cross-functional teams.
• A proactive and continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information into practical business actions.

Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted business partner to the Plant Manager and wider leadership team.
• Lead and develop the site finance team, creating a high-performing and customer-focused culture.
• Drive financial performance through detailed analysis of labour efficiency, yield, costs and operational KPIs.
• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely reporting, analysis and commentary.
• Provide clear insight into financial and operational performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to improve efficiency, control costs and optimise inventory levels.
• Challenge site performance constructively, driving actions that improve profitability and operational effectiveness.
• Lead the inventory agenda, reducing stock holding, improving stock accuracy and minimising write-offs.
• Support capital investment decisions through robust business cases, financial evaluation and post-implementation reviews.
• Ensure strong financial governance through balance sheet reconciliations, audit readiness and compliance activities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance and operational processes.

Role Overview

As Finance Lead / Financial Controller you'll play a critical role in supporting the success of a manufacturing site by combining strong financial governance with hands-on operational business partnering. Reporting to the Regional Finance Lead, you'll work closely with the Plant Manager and Site Leadership Team to drive performance across labour efficiency, yield improvement, cost control, inventory management and profitability.

This is far more than a traditional finance role. You'll be a key member of the site leadership team, spending time on the production floor, building relationships, understanding operational challenges and using financial insight to influence decisions that improve plant performance.

This role is an onsite role based in Tullamore.
