Job summary

Primark is seeking a Finance Manager - ESG Reporting (12 month FTC) to lead accurate and compliant ESG disclosures within a newly separated PLC environment. You will collaborate with the Primark Cares and supporting functions to manage reporting processes and ensure high-quality external disclosures.

You’ll develop governance for ESG reporting, partner with Finance and Legal teams, and drive KPIs and metrics across the business while keeping abreast of evolving regulations and standards.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of external reporting standards, including TCFD, CSRD and the wider reporting landscape trends.
  • Experience with GRI sustainability standards an advantage.
  • Experience in ESG strategy and non-financial reporting frameworks.
  • Professional qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles.
  • Experience in a PLC or large multinational environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement reporting processes for ESG topic areas required by CSRD/TCFD, including KPIs.
  • Ensure external reporting is in compliance with relevant standards and partner with business teams on compliance.
  • Measure progress against formal ESG goals and targets as part of Primark’s sustainability strategy.
  • Manage governance and external assurance processes for Primark’s ESG reporting.
  • Contribute to performance narratives and market communications as a listed group.
  • Collaborate with Technology/Transformation to maintain robust ESG KPI tracking systems.
  • Understand evolving ESG regulations, standards and frameworks and communicate changes.
  • Support Primark Cares, Legal, Finance and Communications with ESG reporting.

This is a key role in the delivery of accurate and compliant ESG reporting within a newly separated PLC environment. The Finance Manager ESG Reporting will be responsible for managing the reporting process for Primark ESG reporting to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring high-quality and compliant disclosures. The manager will work closely with the Primark Cares team and supporting functions such as Legal, Finance, Product teams and Communications.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
ESG reporting
  • Responsibility for developing and implementing reporting processes for ESG topic areas required by applicable legislative frameworks such as CSRD, TCFD etc, including reporting on key Primark ESG metrics and KPIs
  • Responsibility for ensuring external reporting is in compliance with all relevant standards and corporate responsibility expectations, including partnering with business teams on driving compliance
  • Supporting the continued establishment of and measurement of progress against formal quantitative and qualitative ESG goals and targets as part of Primarks sustainability strategy
  • Managing the governance and external assurance processes required for Primark’s formal external ESG reporting
  • Supporting broader external reporting by contributing to performance narratives and wider market communications as a publicly listed group
  • Working alongside Technology and Transformation teams in Primark to develop robust and efficient technology solutions for maintaining consistent and accurate tracking and reporting on ESG KPIs and metrics
  • Understanding and communication of the evolving regulations, standards and frameworks for ESG reporting
  • Collaborating with various business teams including Primark Cares, Legal, Finance, Communications, and others to support Primark’s ESG reporting process
  • Input into the governance and assurance process of Primark’s formal ESG reporting
Skills, Knowledge And Experience
  • Knowledge of external reporting standards, including TCFD, CSRD and the wider reporting landscape trends
  • Experience with GRI sustainability standards an advantage
  • Experience in ESG strategy and non-financial reporting frameworks
  • Professional qualification with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar roles
  • Experience in a PLC or large multinational environment is an advantage
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) - need to communicate to all levels within the business
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills, ability to multi-task, plan and prioritise work schedule and work within agreed timescales.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a demanding environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data as well as demonstrating an ability to focus on higher level overview.
  • Strong commercial awareness with ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of wider business factors.
  • English is essential and another European language would be an advantage.
