Job summary

Valeo Foods Ireland is seeking a commercially focused Finance Accountant to support monthly management accounts, statutory reporting, and balance sheet controls. You will partner with stakeholders across the finance function to deliver accurate financial information and drive process improvements.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role offers exposure to a fast-paced FMCG environment, opportunities to influence financial decision-making, and a pathway to develop your accounting career

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA.
• 2–5 years FMCG finance experience preferred.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

The Role

We’re looking for a commercially focused and detail-oriented Finance Accountant who thrives on delivering accurate financial information and driving continuous improvement. In this role, you’ll play a key part in the preparation of management accounts, statutory reporting, balance sheet controls, and financial analysis that supports business decision-making. Working closely with stakeholders across Finance and the wider business, you’ll provide valuable insights, strengthen financial processes, and help ensure the integrity of financial reporting.

Reporting into the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be a trusted and valued member of the finance function, helping to drive operational excellence and financial performance across the business.

Key Accountabilities

• Play an active role in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, posting journals, and performing monthly reconciliations.
• Perform key balance sheet reconciliation monthly in the areas of accruals (Trade spend, Rebates) and prepayments.
• Capital control - evaluate proposals, monitor/control spend.
• Preparation of monthly Intercompany reconciliations.
• Prepare Statutory financial statements and support audit process.
• Assist with budgeting process.
• Provide cross functional support across the wider Finance team including payroll.
• Ensure revenue compliance, preparation of monthly/Bi-monthly returns.
• Improve any process weaknesses and be a driver of change.
• Other Ad hoc projects/ reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

• Qualified accountant, CIMA/ ACCA / ACA.
• 2-5 years plus experience within a FMCG environment (desirable).
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to check accuracy of own work.
• Ability to priorities time correctly and provide clear direction to team members.
• Experience using an integrated ERP system, IFS experience desirable.
• Strong computer skills, especially Advanced Excel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Exercise good judgement and make decisions.
