Job summary

ESB Networks is seeking a Telecoms Engineer to deliver, operate and maintain OT telecommunications systems across ESB Networks and EirGrid infrastructure in Cork. The role blends field operations with project delivery and fault response to ensure telecoms assets are safe and reliable.

You will work at transmission substations, distribution sites and customer locations, coordinating contractors, maintaining records, and participating in an on‑call rota with a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years in telecommunications, electrical installations, IT/data networks, SCADA/automation or related technical discipline.
• Knowledge of telecommunications technologies or telemetry systems.
• Safety-focused approach to work duties.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Adaptability and flexibility.
• Full clean EU driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver telecoms work programmes for transmission, distribution, customer and renewables projects.
• Install, commission, maintain and fault‑respond to telecoms infrastructure within ESB facilities.
• Support OT telecoms systems including fibre, WAN, LTE, mobile radio, satellite, SCADA and protection communications.
• Coordinate contractors to ensure safe, efficient delivery per ESB standards.
• Investigate faults, test, troubleshoot and manage incidents to resolution.
• Complete commissioning records, safety docs, project updates and asset records on time.
• Participate in an on‑call rota.
