Job summary

Schneider Electric is seeking a Commissioning and Field Service Engineer – Drives & Automation to support customers across Ireland. The role blends on-site commissioning and service with home-based reporting, planning and remote technical support.

You will diagnose issues, install and commission drives and PLC/SCADA systems while coordinating with sales and service teams. The position requires field experience in automation, strong customer communication, and willingness to travel across Ireland

Qualifications

• Previous hands-on experience in a field service, commissioning or industrial automation environment.
• Experience with variable speed drives / VSDs.
• Practical knowledge of PLCs and industrial control systems.
• Experience with fault finding and technical diagnosis.
• Knowledge of drive installation and commissioning.
• Understanding of network integration and SCADA systems.
• Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with technical and commercial teams.
• Flexibility to travel regularly across Ireland and internationally when required.

Responsibilities

• Commission and service variable speed drives and Industrial Automation equipment at customer sites.
• Carry out fault finding, diagnosis and troubleshooting across drives, PLCs and associated control systems.
• Support drive installation, commissioning and system integration activities.
• Work with PLC, SCADA and networked automation systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Schneider Electric equipment.
• Provide technical support to customers during planned and reactive service visits.
• Prepare technical reports and provide clear recommendations following customer visits.
• Support technical reviews, quotations and planning of customer work.
• Work closely with our wider Industrial Automation, sales and service teams to deliver the right technical solution for customers.
