Job summary

Astute is recruiting a Field Service Engineer to join the Renewable Energy Team in Ireland, with travel to the UK as required. You will perform maintenance on industrial equipment, diagnose faults in PLCs and instrumentation, and contribute to ongoing improvements while developing expertise in biomethane upgrading.

Candidates should have a solid engineering background, hands-on fault-finding, and a willingness to stay away regularly.

Qualifications

• A strong practical engineering background with proven fault-finding experience.
• Experience in a field service role and comfortable with staying away regularly.
• Solid understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation would be hugely beneficial.
• Full and valid driving licence (preferably no points).

Responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of sites, nationwide.
• Fault-finding across industrial equipment including valves, pumps, compressors, pneumatic systems and all associated equipment.
• Diagnosing electrical faults involving PLCs, instrumentation, sensors, inverters and control systems where possible.
• Produce the appropriate maintenance documentation and reporting when required.
• Looking for continuous improvement possibilities at all times, proactively looking for improvements.
• Assist on installation projects when required.
• Other duties as required.

Astute's Renewable Energy Team are proudly partnered with a company to recruit a couple of Field Service Engineers for them. They\'re a global player with a significant presence in the UK and a growing presence in Ireland, who are looking for people who would be living in Ireland but open to travelling to the UK as well. The role will suit someone who is technically strong and who would like to learn more about biogas upgrading (if you don't already) and are likely from the CHP or gas engine sector.

The Field Service Engineer role comes with a fantastic all round package, including a salary of up to €49,000 plus a van, fuel card, overtime, on-call allowance, accommodation and meals for overnight stays and more. You would also receive specific product training on the biomethane upgrading technology.

Responsibilities and duties of the Field Service Engineer role

Reporting to the Field Service Manager you will:

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of sites, as part of a team, nationwide
• Fault-finding across industrial equipment including valves, pumps, compressors, pneumatic systems and all associated equipment
• Diagnosing electrical faults involving PLCs, instrumentation, sensors, inverters and control systems where possible
• Produce the appropriate maintenance documentation and reporting when required
• Looking for continuous improvement possibilities at all times, proactively looking for improvements
• Assist on installation projects when required
• Other duties as required

Professional qualifications

• A strong practical engineering background with proven fault-finding experience
• Experience in a field service role and comfortable with staying away regularly
• A solid understanding of industrial control systems and instrumentation would be hugely beneficial
• A full and valid driving licence, huge preference to have no points

Personal skills

• Able to travel with a great degree of flexibility and someone who is happy to go across to the UK too
• Able to work independently and be a strong problem solver
• Someone who is open to overtime as if a problem needs fixing there and then, the job will require finishing prior to leaving
• Strong with HSE awareness

Salary and benefits of the Field Service Engineer role

• Up to €49,000 basic salary, depending on experience
• Company van and fuel card (for personal use too)

• Overtime paid up to 1.5x hourly rate
